That was pretty cool. And we do like Grant, just not the overall results of his coaching.

That's awesome! Dude coached with fire last night like he should have for 4-5 years. Always good to beat Auburn, especially there.

But Grant doesn't care...

There's plenty of things to complain about with Grant, but I hate it when people make shite up like "he doesn't care" to justify bashing him. Hell, I wish it was because he didn't care or that he was a lazy arse. It would make it such an easy parting. Firing and moving on from an overpaid, mediocre coach is a good feeling, but when that coach is one Hell of a man it makes it an incredibly bitter-sweet parting. It just blows that he didn't work out.

Did you guys see the speech he gave the team afterwards???

Can't link it because it came from my bleacher report app but it was Grant talking to the team after that celebration in the hallway.

Always glad to see the players having a good time but the fact that beating a 12-14 team produced that kind of celebration really illustrates how hard up this team has been for big wins the last couple years

Give me a break. Yes, those big wins have been few and far in between, but that celebration obviously isn't about beating a 12-14 team. It's about sweeping a huge in-state rival that many were just ready to hand the state crown to after the Pearl hiring. Don't overanalyze, just enjoy the win.

If we saw more of that from Grant over the last few years, I doubt he'd be in this position today.

Give me a break. This was more "whew, thank God we didn't lay an egg and get embarrassed by a garbage team in Auburn for a 3rd straight year" than it was "woohoo we beat our in-state rival". That's where the bar has been lowered to for this program

Well said.

It's something that our fanbase struggles mightily with: just enjoying the win.

not exactly the same situation but: almost everyone on this board was bitching and moaning about the Arkansas win last football season. That win really charged our team up for the rest of the season into the SECCG. That was a FUN win for our team....and all our fanbase could do is complain.

I know that it's apples and oranges as far as the success of both programs, but my point is, people need to be able to enjoy individual wins, and be happy for our players, especially against our biggest rival.

I enjoyed the win just fine. I watched the game with friends at a bar in Tuscaloosa. We celebrated with a round of pints. I also said I'm glad to see the players happy because they haven't been able to celebrate many big wins the last few years. I also know from a couple of first-hand sources that CAG is extremely hard on the players each and every practice. So to see them celebrate together is really nice. I'm just saying it wouldn't be such a reason for celebration if we hadn't performed so poorly in Auburn the last 2 years. If that's over-analyzing or over-thinking it, then so be it.

I'm not sure how that is a bad thing. We certainly don't have a problem with it in football.

Look, I think Grant should be done here as well. I just hate when people nit-pick every little thing, especially when it's good things.
