Alters isn't what's wrong with the SECr. As a whole I'd imagine actual alter accounts make up for a small percentage of the entire population.
What makes it seem so large is that every dipshit and dumb arse that starts a thread is accused of being an alter. The issue is more so stupidity of posters and leniency of what's allowed to be posted.
90% of posts on the main board are posters trying to invoke reactions from other fan bases.

I don't understand you all. There is never going to be thread after thread of honest, classy sports discussion with such a diverse mix of fanbases.
Hell you can't have one on the Tiger Rant, Hogville, OT, etc. bc of the diversity of personalities. It just doesn't happen. It's life. You run into dumbasses everywhere.

I actually think banning regular posters is a bad thing. Ban alters, sure, but banning normal posters for flaming, being offensive, etc... just prevents the board from having a true representation of it's posters.
Bad threads/posts generally work themselves out because the community adequately berates the poster. I would say a large majority of alters originate from a main poster being banned anyway.
