Me and a friend of mine got into an argument over this. Between the 2, who fielded the better defenses? Who would you take? Just curious on what the rant's take on this is.

Everyone here is going to say Bama (take the LSU fan above who doesn't even know what conference the WC played in as an example of why) but it's probably closer than people think. There was a shite ton of defensive talent on those squads

The two best defenses in the last 10 years of cfb both were fielded in 2011......
The 2011 LSU D faced 3 conference champions , 9 bowl teams and still managed to rank in the top 5 of cfb in all major categories.

I am old enough to remember the wrecking crew defenses and all bullshite aside Alabama has had some defenses since Saban arrived that are better. The reason I say this is because what most people here are overlooking is not the talent but his masterful disguising of his blitz packages. He is the key factor when comparing the two

The Wrecking Crew weren't even the best defensive team of their era. The U was clearly better defensively. I would also take Desert Swarm at their peak as well. So by default, it has to be Saban's Bama defenses.

Well Aggies are a fickle bunch! If you force feed them to fast they tend to moan and cry but if you let them take a spoonful at a time they are more excepting
