Bottom line, we are a passionate football fanbase, and we are fair-weather in everything else. During BCG and most of Turge's era, we had teams who were fun to watch and who won lots of games, and fans were excited to see them play. We don't have that exciting brand of basketball anymore, and the fans don't care to come if we don't.

Hopefully we will have this incoming recruiting class spark some excitement and produce more wins, and Reed will start to fill up again

Pretty much. And there isn't a single school out there that passionately supports two different programs through good and bad. We are a football school, it is what it is

I get what your saying but up until last night this team was playing really well and fun basketball.

This game had huge ncaa tourney implications and they were a good basketball team.

We managed 12k against Vandy, and I get it was a Saturday, but out of the 50k students how many had a test today...

plus the season ticket holders who never show up. Just bad.

rant over

Enjoyed some good games back in the 90's, at the Holler House. Used to rock that place out..

Ohio State, Tennesse, Nebraska, Michigan state, Arkansas, Michigan

All in Top 25 in basketball attendance, and we know they sell football games out

And there's been a hell of a lot more bad in our basketball history. If we had the hardware some of those schools have I have no doubt we would have solid basketball support.

Also Michigan's support during the recent football run has been laughable. They were basically paying people to come in last year IIRC

Yeah, I've been harping on this for a while now so I won't go nuts here, but I will just say that it's pathetic. The place is spooky quiet most of the time.

Kennedy's first year killed Aggie basketball attendance. Reed got packed for every big game, only to watch the team get blown out. His horrible brand of basketball made Turgeon look like an offensive genius.

A tournament appearance would help the support levels.

Attendance was already on the decline under Turge. His last year in '11 it was down to 8.6k per game from 10k in '08.

Also, some of you won't want to hear this but you must take into account that the average student just does not give two shits about playing the vast majority of SEC schools in basketball. UK is the obvious big draw in the SEC. Then Florida (if they are good). The next two that kids might care about are Arky and LSU. After those three it's a whole bunch of

When we were in the Big 12 we got Kansas, Texas, Tech, Baylor, OU, and Okie Light. All were either generally pretty good, regional, or both. Its just doesn't create the same excitement when odds are you don't know anyone attending your opponents school. It gets even less likely when that school is as typically weak as we are in bball. Playing regional rivals helps quite a bit when it comes to a sport that has fair weather support.

Definitely agree with you on the conference thing. The Big 12 slate was far more attractive than the SECW slate

It was full for just about every single conference game when I was a student because, you know, we were good at basketball.
