Issue a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty for players who push or pull opponents off piles.
Yea I don't see any way that could cause any problems...sometimes they try to fix things that aren't broke.

I can see at least one game being decided by that pile rule next year... With our luck it will probably be us

Meyer's offenses at Florida had a lot of linemen heading downfield on pass plays. I haven't paid attention to tOSU to see if they do it.

There should be. The HUNH offenses already have a huge advantage with dual-threat QB's so having OL run blocking 3 yards past the LOS and then throwing a pass down field is fricked up.

I think it should be LOS unless the blocker is engaged. That is much easier to rule by the LJ.... The read option teams were pushing and even breaking the rules, but there is no ref standing 3 yards down field to manage the line so they really need to be 5 yards before they are called and that is a run read all day... this will hurt Auburn, Tech, OSU and other teams that run that offense. Even USCe

Of course, they called it on us on that fake punt this year and it was like 2 yards...

This was the Auburn advantage in 2013. Lots of complaints from coaches and the SEC officials warned Malzahn they were watching them closer. All of a sudden the Auburn offense wasn't as successful last year.

problem there has been every zebra looking for the ball and not paying attention to the crap going on on the pile. They need to have somebody assigned to getting the players away from the pile immediatly.

I don't have a problem with them going a couple yards down field. It's hard to sell play action if you're not stepping that way.

I believe the NFL rule is beyond the LOS equals ineligible receiver downfield. Obviously they give some leeway if the lineman is engaged.

If a guard Goes 6' off the LOS after the LB he is half way to him. That is a tad more than selling pass in my book. Engaging a D lineman or pulling certainly gives a run read to sell PA vs drop back blocking.

Radio show, Rude Awakening I think, today made the point that they are jsut trying to get the existing rule enforced, like with speed limits. In order for it to get called 3yds downfield, they are changing the rule to 1yd downfield.
