Some of these are just plain dumb!

3. A 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct for players who pull or push opposing players off piles. Every single fumble pile up will now be covered in yellow confetti

6. Players in violation of equipment rules – untucked jerseys, messages written on eye black – must leave the field for one play. A team may take a timeout to negate this rule.

The only part I have a problem with is the untucked jerseys thing.

2. Adjusting the illegal receiver downfield barrier from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to one. A lineman must now be engaged with a defensive player if further than one yard downfield.

So a RB gets tackled by his jersey he has to come out of the game.

The untucked jerseys clause is ridiculous. Is that only meant for intentionally untucked jerseys? That stuff happens naturally and far too often for them to try to police that. It just seems really unnecessary.

I would rather them make a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for receivers that motion for a flag after every incomplete pass.

That is what the rule originally was, there was no problem for teams in the 50s-80s running screen plays with that rule in place.

Why? Just make sure the pass is not beyond the LOS.

What if the OL gets a good push and goes two yards up field? Penalty for being stronger than the defensive line? At least with three yards there was some leeway.

With Arkansas' strong OL, this will hurt you more than it will help. I wouldn't get too excited.

It won't.

The rule was changed because of teams like Nebraska who ran the option.

The rule change has been exploited, it is being corrected.

This will only hurt those whose coach's philosophy and strategy is centered around exploiting rules to their advantage.

It was more like 5 yards than 3 with the old rule more often than not. It will probably wind up being similar with this rule.
