Looks like Tennessee is the highest? That's stupid.

Knoxville is subject to some outdated state law that (unfairly) affects ticket prices Only in Knox county. This is probably part of the reason.

quote:

"We're the only entity in the state that pays this tax — I'm talking about university athletic programs," said Chancellor Jimmy Cheek. "Vanderbilt doesn't pay it, University of Memphis doesn't pay it, ETSU doesn't pay it. It's a state law that affects only Knox County."

Unfortunately you had to be alive and a season ticket holder during the Clinton administration to be able to have them.

Completely sold out the 15 year seat options on the new stadium at those prices and the demand for the expensive seats was highest. Significant wait lists for all the premium sideline areas. The new Kyle is like a giant cash machine. Aggies got money.

That said, most of the seats in the stadium are relatively low dollar donation seating but the ticket prices are high. SEC games are $100 face value for the most part. We do have a massive student section of over 32,000 though and all of those seats are half price with no donation. It's part of why the other seats are so expensive to essentially subsidize the 12th Man.

A&M is actually quite a bit more expensive than UT. There are quite a few seats (not counting suites) that are $3250-$4500 donation plus the cost of the tickets.

Good info on Kyle. Commonwealth actually reduced student tickets this year. I honestly don't know why students don't come. It's cheap as hell for them, there's booze and women to be had, and if you want you can easily sneak both in.

Edited to add: I'm only 5 years removed from undergrad, so this isn't an oldster shaking his fist.

This reminds me: have we had a thread in which we talk about our favorite ways to bring alcohol into ballgames?

2013 Student Section Attendance
1. Alabama - 13,762
2. Florida - 13,109
3. Georgia - 12,271
4. Auburn - 11,159
5. South Carolina - 9,017
6. LSU - 8,508
7. Tennessee - 7,190
8. Ole Miss - 5,683
9. Kentucky - 3,383

No idea why the other 4 weren't included.

We average around 30,000 I think. I didn't realize student attendance numbers were so difficult to find though.

That list just randomly picked 80 schools and somehow left out A&M who has the largest student attendance in the country. Odd.
