Uptight prudes have completely flipped my view on 50 Shades of Grey

I've always seen it as nothing more than mindless female sex appeal on the level of Twilight and romance novels. I've never read them but assume the writing is as poor as the plot.
However, in response to the movie coming out I have seen hundreds of Facebook and Twitter posts, as well as news articles from prudes, undersexed women, pussy men and the uber religious saying how evil and degrading to society this is. Not because it's a mindless shitty premise, but because depicting S&M is the height of moral corruption.
I now find myself rooting for the movie to break box office records and get incredible reviews for no other reason than I want to watch the world burn.

Imagine a porno....and you write down the plot. That is 50 Shades.

my wife said people were talking about it all over her social media.
so, i got on facebook and twitter for the first time in a few weeks and saw nothing. i take that as having successfully deleted all stupid people from my life.

Only Facebook post I've seen on it is from a high school friend that's now a Southern Baptist preacher. He only made mention of the church not turning its back on sexual deviants.
I've blocked all the holy rollers from my Facebook feed though.

i wish more southern baptists would take that approach. as a former southern baptist.

Taking one's SO to this movie might be the most sure fire way to get laid since the introduction of the sportscar.

Baptist wife has NO interest in seeing this so i'm going to have to get laid the old fashioned way Saturday night.

Read 3/4s of the first book with the wife. We found it pretty boring.

I've thought this too...but I've also thought about how women might be disappointed in the film since it wasn't what they envisioned when reading the book.

Wife wants to go see it, but getting laid isn't worth the torture of me sitting through the movie. She can go with friends to see it.

I think you're overestimating the level of risquéness. It's a story MADE for prudes.

It won't tank. All the same women who were all about the Twilight series read these books.
I didn't read Twilight, but I did read the 50 Shades series to see what the fuss was about. I wasn't all that impressed, but it's not like I was expecting some literary masterpiece.

Anybody who has ever seen a real porn will be let down I'd guess..

It will probably not be even as risqué as Skinemax.

Staff at B&Q stores have been told to read Fifty Shades of Grey and prepare for a massive rise in demand for rope, cable ties and tape. A leaked memo reveals that workers at the DIY chain have been asked to prepare themselves for "sensitive" customer questions about such products, which could be used in sexual role play.

I view the popularity of an S&M novel and movie as evidence that women do, in fact, want to be dominated.
All of the feminist stuff is just one giant shite-test.

my thoughts and prayers are with the people that have cleanup duty in theaters afterwards.
That stuff isn't coming out of seats.
