Cusumano has found a rabid and large fanbase with Mizzou fans and has talked something about Mizzou almost every single day. Not just covering Mizzou, but selling Mizzou. He led Sunkett (ESL coach) today into saying that yes, ESL could be a pipeline to Mizzou.

The Post Dispatch almost never covers Mizzou unless it's some scandal. What was on the front page? And I'm not talking of the sports section. I mean on the front page front page. Mizzou.

TJ Moe has a show everyday in the afternoons during drive time.

There has probably been more talk about Mizzou a month after their bowl game than even the Cardinals, who have pitchers and catchers reporting shortly.

I'm not saying Mizzou will ever overtake the Cardinals or whoever, but what I am saying is I agree with I think it was kilo who said times are a changing.

Mizzou presence in STLis exponentially larger than at any time in my life. Pinkel era success has obviously played a big part, but I really think the SEC move has pushed it over the top. SEC football is a big deal. It's a spectacle. Much more so than in the Big 12.

You have local radio shows covering signing day. They have no idea what in the hell they are talking about, but they are covering it. You never would have had that a few years ago.

I think Tim McKernan (a Mizzou alum) being the GM-owner of the 920 All-Sports has been a key.

He's pro-Mizzou, attends most of the post-season bowl games and both SECCGs, and is responsible for their regular Mizzou contributors like Dave Matter (who's on at least twice every week - Monday with Cusumano and I think Thursday on the Noon-2 show) and TJ Moe.

They also interview Pinkel and Kim Anderson weekly during their season's, have Gabe DeArmand on every month or so (or more when pertinent), and SEC type of guests like Tony Barnhart, Russ Mitchell from SEC14.com, and recruiting experts like Danny Heitert and JC Shurburtt.

It's a smart move. If the Rams leave, St. Louis is going to go all-in on Mizzou football and 920 is already well ahead of the curve. And I also think it's in reaction to listener feedback. Hitting these 920 guys with positive feedback and guest ideas on social media or e-mail will probably net more.

And I'm seeing WAY more Mizzou gear around town. It's every day and in greater volume.

Yes, some thing are changing and others not so much. The P-D had an editorial on Thursday titled: "The big recruit and the secret of college football". It's all about the exploitation of college athletes.
LINK

The P-D is still the liberal rag it always has and will be. And this editorial shows it starts at the top. I wouldn't read Strauss or Burwell (gone) if they praised Mizzou for winning the National Championship. They are pure hacks. Bernie is okay. Matter is good and worth following.

I (too emotionally) talked directly to Cusumano on the field after Mizzou beat the piglets to capture the SEC East in November. I told him that he was missing what is going on here at Mizzou. I think he finally got it. (I don't take any credit.)

I now see more Mizzou merchandise than ever. Which is very good. The Mizzou Store in Chesterfield helps this.

All the positive press and exposure should help in a lot of ways. There always should be more of a following by StL Mizzou alumni, especially with this success. The Zou should sellout starting with every conference game, minimum. We had two sellouts last year. Hopefully, all the positives will translate into more support for Ol' Mizzou from the StL area.

Same thing in KC, both sports stations covered MIZZOU signing day heavily.
Even though it's BB season and the Jayturds are likely to win another Big 12 championship there is much more talk about MIZZOU football than in the past.

810 radio actually has a host (TJ Carpenter) that graduated from Arky so he keeps the SEC front and center quite a bit.

The SEC move has been enormous for Mizzou and A&M in exposure. Let's face it no one cared about most of the games and matchups in the big 12. The long term benefits for both universities will be wonderful.

Thanks Deloss Dodds, you arrogant prick
Thanks LHN, instead of bringing viewers to whorns, you brought them to us

I am sure alot of this is concern of the Rams leaving. It does not hurt for STL that the flagship colleg team is kicking arse and taking names.

If the Rams leave I can see another expansion at Farout Field. Get that baby up to 90,000

Matter has improved the MU coverage in the P-D, but the sports department there does still revel in negative news from MU. I do enjoy watching Strauss being drug kicking and screaming into having to write positive pieces about MU as the Tigers success continues. Having said that, I am very surprised he has not offered any opinion about the basketball team yet.
I agree with those saying the move to the SEC has helped coverage statewide. I think it has helped other schools' fans and journalists in STL and Springfield get over the little brother complex that was fairly entrenched in those towns.
It is really nice to hit radio stations from STL and Springfield on the internet and hear MU discussion!!
I think the football team's success has improved this, and I believe Alden has done things (publicly and behind the scenes) to improve things.

I'm glad that Mizzou is making a rise in STL!

But the P-D is a terrible newspaper. I used to get the NY Times, KC Star, all the Columbia papers, and the P-D, and the P-D is easily some of the worst reporting and writing I have ever seen.

Not necessarily the sports section, but the paper as a whole. BUT, I'd love more STL people in the stands at Mizzou! I want sellouts every game!

So today on the radio they were talking about losing the Rams. One listener texted in that he doesn't care. He'll travel west to watch the Tigers or Chiefs. Which led into a lengthy discussion of how Mizzou stands to fill that void if the Rams left.

It's a done deal and Missouri will make out like bandits. Kroenke is helping himself and Mizzou at the same time.

Not saying it's a good newpaper and not going to say everything is positive. Hell, there is more negativity here than in the paper though. Anyways, also had a positive article on Mizzou wrestling. Yes. Mizzou wrestling. Not football. Not basketball. Wrestling.
