What does that mean for your scheme next year and what are the toughts on that move?

Is Azzaanni still a candidate at Central Michigan?

Azzani is staying.

If it is Debord which is likely, it won't change the offense much since we're running Butch's offense.

Sanford is also possible maybe.

The consensus is that Debord will be hired in some position. Most are hoping that it isn't as OC but hopefully as an assistant of some sort. Most TN fans would be pretty upset if he is the OC. Many want Sanford from Boise State as OC but I think Butch loves Debord. Azzanni has denied any contact with CMU but that means nothing. My bet is Debord will be OC.

DeBord likely will be the hire. Azzani said he hasn't spoken with CMU. My guess is DeBord gets hired and Azzani get co-oc but no word on that yet.

I don't expect us to change schemes at all. Although, DeBord called mostly pro-style at UM, he installed and ran our type of power spread offense perfectly when Michigan beat an Urban Meyer coached Florida team in their bowl game. So he can definitely call our type offense and Jones has worked with him before - he was a mentor of Jones.

Azzanni said today that he's staying, he wants to realize the fruits of his labors from the last 2 years. He's also our recruiting coordinator.

Definitely seems out of the blue. I know Jones loves the guy but, man. Any concerns? He hasn't called a ballgame in about 6-7 years has he?

Definitely would be big to keep Azzani. Guy is a star in the making.

Some concerns are that he's only had a couple of years of actually being an OC and none of the QBs that played under him as QB Coach ever really amounted to much, most of their numbers went down when he was hired as well

Yep, definitely some concern. Been out of coaching for 2 years and he has not been in involved in the spread system that we are now running. Azzanni is on his way but not really sure he is ready to be OC at Tennessee at this point.

A lot of people have concerns about it but I'm not one of them. If we go that route, we'll be running Jones' offense and making a steady move rather than a flashy one. At this point, I think that's where our offense needs to be as we really don't need to start over with new terminology and a new system and any hot young OC is going to want to do that whereas DeBord would just call the offense we're used to seeing and hopefully have the oline to make it work.

Azzani will definitely be a head coach one day, imo. He's been rising pretty fast.

Debord OC, Azzani gets promoted to passing game coordinator or Co-OC along with WRs, and Gillespie gets the recruiting coordinator title.. announced by the weekend. That's my guess.

Having said all of that, I have faith in what Butch is doing. There is progress being made with our program and whether you like or dislike Butch Jones that can't be denied. We certainly haven't won anything of significance at this point but the program is definitely upgrading and there is a buzz that has been missing for a long time.

At this point Butch has earned the right to do what he thinks needs to be done and most of our fans will be on board with whatever he wants to do.

Zook part ii. the good news is that you should be able to find a quality HC after next year. Then again, UT doesn't seem to have UF standards so maybe they keep him for the signing day trophies.

Well if he turns out to be like Zook at least the cupboard will be full for the next coach.
