Here we go! Another amazing recruiting class is in the books, and we always see at least one freshman who makes an impact (Cam Robinson, JK Scott).

So who's it gonna be?

Here's mine:

1. Calvin Ridley
2. Deionte Thompson
3. Daylon Charlot (KR/PR)
4. Daron Payne
5. Minkah Fitzpatrick

Kinda wish Charlot would bulk up and play corner.

if they don't participate in spring ball they wont be in top 5. Mink is not there right and he plays CB? more than likely he will RS. We got too many coming back at one of the hardest positions to play at Bama

Pretty tough to RS a kid like that. Its bad for business a lot of time even if it make sense.

Makes sense. We need safety depth immediately, Ridley maybe too good to keep off..id bump Harris up one just because i think he brings a lot of dynamic between the tackles ability that we seem to be missing. Hentges will be interesting to see if he can block well enough to get out there early.

Ridley - too talented to keep off the field.

Thompson or Harrison or Fitzpatrick - no real depth at safety. One of the three will find an immediate role.

Charlot - hopefully the coaches trust him as the return specialist; he'd bring a level of athleticism we've sorely lacked at that spot the past couple of seasons.

I would say Harris and Payne next up but their positions are too crowded.

I'm really high on Ronnie Harrison. Physically he's the most impressive athlete on the roster at safety. I could see Harrison and Hootie on the back end in dime situations when geno walks up. He's hootie jones with lower body fat.

Not saying he'll play right away because I think Cook and Washington will have a say in the safety rotation, but I like Harrison better than Thompson.

Unfortunately I doubt Saban will trust Charlot at KR/PR. I think freshman Cyrus Jones and his fumble issues nipped that in the bud 3 years ago. I expect our best catcher of the football that isn't imperative to our success offensively or defensively to field kicks and punts. It's unfortunate but it seems like we'd rather play it safe there than put guy back that can change the game. Maybe Saban will surprise me and give Humphrey a crack at it.

Wouldn't be surprised if Minkah and Tony Brown were our gunners on punt coverage. Of the defensive backs coming in I think Sheffield is the only one that potentially redshirts.

The only ones I think make major contributions are Scarborough and Taylor. Hentges possibly, but he might not be strong enough to contribute at TE yet.

Ridley is a wildcard. Depends how explosive he ends up being.

Been looking at all of our recruits and my fav might be Richie Petitbon. Saw Khalil McKenzie kick everybodys arse in the highlights but Richie was the only one who was able to block him and never backed down. Kid has a lot of fight in him.

I try to use true freshman when i do these threads, which is why i didnt mention taylor or bo. Just seems blatantly obvious taylor will get in on the rotation.

i dont really know one recruit from another well enough to determine who will or wont be an impact this coming year.

what i do know is, if someone, anyone, a coach a player somebody anyfreakinbody, doesnt step up and motivate this team, push this team beyond just doing your job. then its going to be like the last 2 years, a stats only season. yes we won the sec and i'm glad. but with the talent thats been brought in since sabans arrival, we shouldnt get beat, period. yet every year, save one, we get beat more often than not, more than once. no motivation is the culprit. osu simply wanted it more than bama, it was clear as a bell. so all the top recruits that may or may not have an impact next season, still need to be motivated, pushed, hard, without falter. ok i'm done now. rtr
