What? I'm not crying. You've got NO proof.

I'm fine.

Really.

But then that damn Nissan "Cat's in the Cradle" commercial had to come on.

Is it me or does it seem like there are a lot of commercials trying to tug on the ole heart strings this year? The two we mentioned, then there was the Dove Cares for men or something, and that one about the kid who didn't get to do all that shite because he died young of a household accident.

Frick these people.

And Coke did one, too.

That e-surance Breaking Bad commercial rocked, though. And didn't try to make me weep openly.

Beg to differ about the Bud spot. Basically, it told you how to feel ("now you must feel sad," "now you must cry") instead of making you feel. There's a difference. I wound up irritated by the clumsy attempt to manipulate my emotions. And yes, I'm a dog lover. The Brady spot was great, although I've already seen it like 50 times in the previous week.

Guess I'm not that sophisticated. I can be manipulated by dogs and horses and such.

Look, it's a matter of opinion; you have yours, I have mine. But I've been writing advertising for 25 years now and commercials that--in my opinion--tell you how to feel ... for example, I once worked for a guy who was really into that stuff--like he'd show a big crying face in his ad with some limp headline, the face basically telling the reader "you need to feel sad when reading this ad". bullshite. Why not write an ad that, by it's very nature, content and so forth, is sad--leading the reader to feel sad without telling him to do so.

Anyway, as I said, this is all a matter of opinion; yours is as valid as mine.

Relax. Re-read my post again. I wasn't being critical of you. More I was poking fun at myself.

It was, like, perfect in every way.

A VERY good year for Superbowl commercials.

The game's been entertaining as well.

No offense taken, pal, I knew where you were coming from in your last post. I think there are maybe 3 of us on these boards who can actually poke fun at ourselves--you, me and ... well, there's got to be someone else out there. We could use more of that around here.
