I bet they wouldn't, considering in the last 10 years (going back to the '05 season) we've had 6 Bowls (compared to Vandy's 7 Bowls All-time Total) and a divison title (compared to Vandy's 0 total). Additionally, we have 12 more wins than them in that time frame, and are 7-3 against them in that time frame.

Ignorant Statement is ignorant.

17 years ago vs. 35 years ago. Yeah...you can't just throw out 18 years and call it irrelevant...

Agreed. Best trophy ever.

I went to Waterford in 2007 and they explained how they made them. Now Waterford is bankrupt and Ireland's economy is in the toilet.

When your team loses 10 straight to Florida people tend to forget that puke Orange used to be a decent football team.

When your team hasn't won a national title in 35 years, or the SEC in a decade, people tend to forget that period red used to be a decent football team

I'm old enough to have seen both.

I just don't get the argument I guess other than it being a pissing contest.

I got news for you...neither one of them is relevant as of public perception of the programs in 2015. Obviously they matter overall, of course they do. But when it comes to how high school kids look at both places, kids don't give a shite that UT won a title when they were like 2 years old compared to UGA's being before they were born. They dont' have any actual memories of either.

UGA has accomplished far, FAR more in the time that Terry Godwin first started to remember what happened with college football programs than tennessee has, which is what makes the OP all the more humorous. It'd be one thing if it was a gump saying it, but the fact that it's from a fan of a team that has lost 5 in a row to Richt is just silly.

The OP is about recruting, which is something UT can talk shite about. It was more of a lighthearted jab towards ya'll anyway. You know, the whole UGA gonna UGA and lose a crap game to take them out of the running every year, despite being smack dab in th middle of one of the most talented football states in the country.

Being old enough to have experienced and remembered clearly your team winning a championship is far greater than the mere knowledge that they have won one in the past.

For example: to me 1993, 2004, 2010 and 2013 are all superior to the 1957 AU national championship.

That's very true.

Honestly, should be considered NCs for Auburn, but unfortunately they aren't. In my mind, 2004 Auburn was as good a football team as I've ever seen.

is stupid as frick to begin with considering maybe 1 (maybe, if that) team every year wins every single game.

They had 3 single digit victories, including a 3 point win over 3 loss Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl and an 8 point win over 6-7, Spencer Pennington-led Bama. They should've been in the title game over Oklahoma. But USC would've run train on them.

Anyone 25 and older remembers TN's national title well.

Anyone 43 and older can remember UGA's national title.

That is a pretty wide margin of individuals that can remember seeing Tennessee lift the National Title trophy that can't UGA.

I fall into that category being 13 when TN won the BCS and -5 when UGA won the title in 80.

Go VOLS!
