Oh for sure and I've already seen two posters in this thread act like the game is still similar to that era, when it isn't at all. They are just going in with blinders on.

I'm sure I'm one of them and I freely admit all of those things. I was the first to admit I haven't watched a game. Just no interest in it. Maybe I'll give it a shot and see but I doubt I'll ever be back into it like before.

Not having a team in St. Louis could be a reason I just don't care as well. Not having a team I really care about makes it hard to devote any time to it. Personally, and this is just me, but as soon as there started being as many foreign names in the draft as guys from the States, well, just not interested either.

Usually if it is two Western conference playoff teams playing it will be a very good game. Plus the Hawks are a lot of fun to watch.

You've got two very good teams close by in Memphis and Chicago to watch. The Gasol brothers will make you just laugh at the skill level shown by college bigs.

Yeah I don't know what to say here since my favorite player is from Spain.

I grew up loving college basketball during the seventies and eighties during it's prime. Even though we won a NC in the nineties and there were some great games that decade, the game itself declined, imo. I stopped watching altogether in the late nineties and haven't watched many games since.

Ok, maybe not the best 2 teams to watch, but I forced myself to watch about 5 minutes of the Bulls/Lakers game. Probably less than that actually.

I kept track and watched 8 possession. During those 8 possessions there was a grand total of 5 passes. Ironically, I stopped watching when the announcer made the comment "There's not even a thought of passing."

I seriously feel like I'm watching a game of horse or something.

Yeah, my son is all KD. He enjoys it and as far as the sport itself goes, that's probably more important than if I do.

Yeah the quicker they get the Lakers off of TV the better. They've been slowly taking away their nationally televised games.

I blame a lot of what I consider false opinions on the NBA on the fact that the networks choose markets over good basketball. It is infuriating.

Now that is a problem that is shared by more than just the NBA and agree 100%. Completely frustrating.

The NBA raped the NCAA game, and along with the NCAA's reduced hours has neutered it's ability to build the kind of team chemistry, fundamentals, Hoops IQ/Savvy,etc..that the former teams with 20/21/22 yr olds helped create.

NCAA Football still has a great product, even if raided prematurely by the NFL. NCAA Baseball has always been so far down the minor league rung, that it is still a solid product if raided out of HS and neutered with the bats,etc..you just have to accept it for the Low Single A level ball it oft is.

But, NCAA Hoops has taken a brutal drop in quality from the late 1970s-mid 1990s heyday. The team game has went solo isolation, the big man diminished and/or few bigs that can post/play with their back to the basket. ESPN highlights encourage dunks and treys, the kids today are allergic to using the glass, especially allergic to angled bankshot glass.

It's now hard to watch..20 years ago ESPN Weeknight College Hoops and CBS NCAA Tourney were my favorite times of the year by far..now just something to bet on.

Completely agree. The product is just terrible. I can't believe I am saying this but I have only watched 1 complete TN game this year, while I have watch almost every Grizzlies game that comes on.

That is a 180 from even 5 years ago. The constant fouls and poor officiating kills the pace of the game.

This is one of the most overrated narratives out there. How many guys from SEC teams not named Kentucky are leaving early nowadays? 4 or 5 at the most from 14 teams.

They only take 60 total players in the NBA draft a year. There are 300+ CBB teams.

The best player in CBB this season is a back to the basket player.

The PF position is changing. Stretch 4's are in vogue. Blame foreign players for that, not the NBA.

I really enjoy watching Kaminsky and Christmas play.

But, the NCAA reduced hrs,etc..whatever you choose to blame..the team game and player savvy/IQ are way down..I miss college teams full of 20-22 yr old players and/or where the core stayed together long enough to marinate.

I know today's game has more iso players per roster, and better slashers,etc..but I miss the team game and the Wooden era through say the two Gator teams in mid 2000s. Don't like what I see of the last 5 to 8 years in the NCAA game.

Again I think it has less to do with the experience issue or an AAU issue.

It is hard to run good offense when they just let the opponent foul the crap out of people nowadays.

The hand checking rules in the NBA saved it from an absolutely dreadful era post Jordan. CBB tried to emulate it last year, but the level of officiating is so poor that they a) either absolutely bailed on once it his conference play or b) called it so inconsistently the players didn't know what was a foul and what wasn't.

Think about it this way...Every member of the 1992 Dream Team played at least 3 years in college, with most playing 4. Nowadays, kids who are 18-19 play one year in college in a controlled environment, then get thrown to the wolves in the NBA.

College is where you grow up and learn about yourself, how to be independent, and handle yourself with dignity.

I believe that is a critical piece as to why Lebron hasn't won more titles.
