UT has never been to a Final Four.

Also, lol at one 2 week stretch in 1995 defining MSU as a program ahead of Alabama in basketball. GTFO.

Ms. State has higher highs in the 60s and 90s, while much lower lows compared to Bama's steady mediocrity.

State had 1 higher high in one season of the 1990s. And it was a program defining high that Id kill for, but they have been to 10 NCAA Tournaments and 3 Sweet 16s. Ever.

But for real though, I'll take UT since 2000 over LSU.

9 tournament appearances
2 Conference championships(To LSU 3)
5 sweet 16s ( The same amount of times LSU has made the tournament since 2000)
1 Elite 8 and a last second buzzer beater 3 away from the final 4.

I'll say this much, I'm not mad over those results.

Trent Johnson fricked us royally. He sucked. I think Johnny has us on the right path. He's an enthusiastic alum, former player and coach that is recruiting lights out. I kid, tennessee was solid with Pearl which makes me wary of auburn in a couple seasons. I will say... Tyndall isn't the guy for tennessee

Jesus Anthony Grant we are now getting lumped in with Auburn as a basketball program. Best reason to fire his arse I have seen yet, and that's saying something

My same thought, even AU people wouldn't rank their program even with ours based on history, not present coaches.

Outside of the Southern Miss mess, I'd be interested to hear why you believe that to be true

Ms. State being located in Mississippi has plenty to do with their tourney appearances, especially when teams with them colored folks were also in the tourney, couldn't run the risk of being on the same court at them teams...

However, if you want to get into the topic of performance over decades, Florida and Tennessee would be knocked down a tier or two...

The main reason is they stunk when the NCAA expanded the field in the 70's and 80's. Even Richard Williams finished his career under .500 in the SEC. Their only productive period since the mid 60's was under Stansfield and 2 seasons under Williams in the mid-90's.

I actually went to their sweet 16 game at Rupp in 1996.

In this thread, I learned that 1 final four is worth more than double digit conference championships, all americans, tournament appearances, etc.

If you've ever made a final four, you're a top tier program
