Gamecock football next year?

What's the boards opinion of what next year will hold?
Flash back to last offseason and they were (strangely) a media darling. Proved to be wildy overrated with more than a few media types even picking them to win the SEC.
This offseason it's almost the exact inverse with most things I've read the media is leaving the program and OBC for dead.
Personally, I think it's going to be another long year for the Cocks. Zero experience returning at QB, losing Davis and unless they have some guys come out of nowhere they are still going to have a lot of trouble getting after the passer and covering guys.
I expect a 5/6th place finish in the East and might miss a bowl game altogether.
Thoughts?

I'm interested also, I plan on making it to Columbia for the LSU/USC game
Hopefully Miles can push it to 4-0 against Spurrier.

We'll drop the sport before spring practice starts.
Williams-Brice will be converted into a women's basketball venue
eta- Seriously there are a few things USC has to do to be successful next year
1) Get legit pass rushers on campus. We didn't have on guy on the team last season that could successfully pressure the QB and thats why our defense was shite.
This is also already accomplished with Marquavious Lewis already enrolled and several other commits likely sending their papers in on signing day
2) Spurrier has to call the plays. It was very apparent last season that after the UT game Spurrier let Bubba call the plays and our offense went in the shitter. It was very apparent that Spurrier took back over the playcalling duties in the second quarter of the Miami game. We went from farting around the field to putting up 200 yards of offense in that quarter.
3) LT, LG and RG need replacing. Robinson and Cann were great for us on the left side of the line, but now they are off to the NFL and need replacing. A promising JUCO LT was coming and likely going to have the LT spot on lock until James Franklin pull some slimy shite. This team is pretty thin at tackle so LT could be a problem spot next year, especially with a pocket passing QB. There are a lot of guards on the team and as long as Will Sport isn't one of the ones playing I think we'll be fine on the interior. But if Sport plays I might refuse to watch the team hes so goddamn incompetent.
4) Connor Mitch has to step up at QB. He is really the only option we've got as Perry Orth is a walkon, Scarneccia is a project and Nunez will be a true freshman. If Mitch is the frick up that I've heard/seen he is, then look for Nunez to come in a try to be Connor Shaw 2.0

They will not be very good next year.
They will, however, beat Georgia.

Davis didn't seem that good last year. He seemed kind of soft like James Davis at times.
who does SC get in the west division next year?

Mike Davis is a baby back bitch. Glad hes gone. Wilds is a beast and I'm very excited about David Williams

@aTm and LSU at home

SC has a tough first 5 games too. Kentucky is improving, at GA and at Missouri who have won the division the past few years, UCF is one of the top programs in their conference, and LSU. UNC can score. u really could be 0-5 or 1-4 to start the season and not even be that bad of a team.
Right now I would only feel comfortable picking SC to beat Citadel, Vandy and Florida at home, and only FLorida if they still struggling at QB position.
SC could possibly go from being ranked no. 4 in the last poll of the season to two years later being 2 or 3 win team. I think if it falls appart fo Spurrier there, it will be hard to get a top notch coach to replace him when he retires.

I know Cock fans seemed to have soured on Davis, but he's a good back. He's an NFL guy, probably 3:4th round pick. He's a little better than Wilds IMO. He was also a good weapon catching the ball.

didn't seem like he played at all in Clemson game. maybe he was hurt.
regardless, SC usuually has a good stable of backs, I know Clemson had more trouble with the backups the past few years than the main guy. SC been stout on the O line past few years, a little drop off this past season.

They'll suck once again.... Coach Spurrier finally decides he can't take this s*** anymore, and retires....

He has been "hurt" since November of last year. Dudes a pussy

They're on the decline. Spurrier hasn't recruited hard enough and it's starting to show.
Sept. 3 ... (in Charlotte) vs. UNC
Sept. 12 ... vs. Kentucky
Sept. 19 ... at Georgia
Sept. 26 ... vs. UCF
Oct. 3 ... at Missouri
Oct. 10 ... vs. LSU
Oct. 17 ... vs. Vanderbilt
Oct. 24 ... OPEN
Oct. 31 ... at Texas A&M
Nov. 7 ... at Tennessee
Nov. 14 ... vs. Florida
Nov. 21 ... vs. The Citadel
Nov. 28 ... vs. Clemson
Looking at the schedule I'm thinking 6-6

Don't hold your breath. Our defense was atrocious last year but we were still only a couple plays away from being 9-3 and in ATL.
Look for the problems to be on offense instead of defense though. Lot of people to replace on that side of the ball

They're slowly slipping back to pre spurrier status.

well you also had a good QB, i believe most passing yards in SC history. He got a lot of criticism due to some mistakes at end of game but he was solid player.
If your defense hasn't improved, and you don't have a good QB, SC won't be losing close games. I believe SC lost quite a few good recruits on defense, Clemson got a corner.
It is rare for team to lose a QB and lot of players on offense and be good the next year, unless your QB is a stud and you have some stud WRs. That is kind of what happened with Watson and CLemson this year when he played although NC State and UNC and SC last season are not exactly the best litmus tests. lol

You believe wrong. We lost one good recruit and he wasn't at a position we're already stacked
The defense will be immensely improved just because we have legitimate DEs now. It doesn't even matter how good they are, just that they are DEs.

Dylan Thompson was a piece of shite. He literally lost the Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee games for us. He tried to loss the UGA game for us.
You and other people point out the stats all you want. He threw the game away when we were in a position to win 4 times. Defense and UGA FG kicker bailed him out once

If you're going to go with decline comments at least try something that isn't so generic and has been used for the past 10 years.

i thought i saw SC lost 6 recruits at least.
well it is hard to predict how a defense will do and you are going up against several teams that have good QBs.

lol nah defense lost those, didn't they lose 3 games in which they had 14 point lead in 4th quarter? i'd rather get beat down by elite teams like that FSU and West Virginia team than lose 3 games like that to less talented teams. You guys need to retire the Clemsoning phrase after last season. that was brutal to watch even for me. lol
I thought SC got real lucky in that UGA game b/c they called back that long Gurley run on phantom holding call, i believe it was away from ball too.
seemed like last season the script got flipped because SC had won a lot of close games over past 4 years or so due to a lot of fortunate breaks, like that missouri game 2 seasons ago.
