Juror on Vandy trial was raped 20 years ago. Didn't disclose it. Messy detail:

Defense will argue this requires a retrial. I've never seen a case like this so i don't know. If you have, feel free to weigh in below.

Victim in this case has been very brave, would be awful if she had to go through the entire trial again.

In investigative reports, Batey was accused of peeing on victim & saying, "That's for 300 years of slavery, bitch."

The most egregious and explosive accusation against Batey has never been made public until now. Indeed, there has been a year-long court battle in the state over unsealing these investigative records. In the initial investigative report into the rape, which has still not been unsealed, Batey was accused of urinating on his white victim while saying, "That's for 300 years of slavery, bitch."

It was a charge so explosive that prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges all decided it couldn't be made public or even introduced as evidence at trial. Batey denied ever making the comment, but it's included in the investigative record and it's a detail that would have overtaken everything about the case.

I have this really sick feeling that had the roles been reversed, that statement would have been made the epicenter of the entire case.

It's impossible to hate white people because their privilege places them in a stratosphere that is above the concept of receiving hate.

She was also probably cis and able bodied. She should have thanked them for not doing worse.

If true, that's a hate crime for sure.

You mean if it was a white football player and a black girl and the white dude said something like "300 years of slavery wasn't long enough for your people, bitch" after peeing on her and/or raping her?

Yeah, they'd probably need to shut down Vandy's football program if that ever happened.

That said, Clay Travis has no proof that the allegation is true.

I applaud him for not releasing this before the verdict was in so as to not prejudice the jury pool. It definitely had huge news value.

But the only reason he's posting this today is to cash in on the news value. It's what he gets paid to do. Just like I'm posting the OP so Chicken gets a few more clicks today.

As the father of a young girl, I find rape to be one of the most dehumanizing, despicable acts man has ever conceived of. Whether he pissed on her or said something awful really doesn't make it any worse or better to me. I would want to go Samuel L. Jackson on any sumbitch of any race who raped my daughter. A racial component adds fire to the story for the media and general public but if it was my daughter it wouldn't change a damn thing.

It is inflammatory, but that wouldn't have stopped them, like Carolina girl posted, if the roles were reversed.

Probably because they had more than enough evidence to convict and didn't want to start a race riot. Also, they may not have been able to prove it happened.

I'm sure MSNBC will dissect this and say "while unseemly, there is something about this young man's rage that we need to examine further."

exactly, i read a day by day summary of the trial on the tennesseen last night which was pretty interesting. they had plenty of evidence without it anyway obviously since the verdict turned out as it did.

i do feel for the families of those convicted but i hope the 4 are all made into prison bitches.

Well it either happened or didn't happen....there were videos and pictures taken of the assault correct? So either they have it on video or its completely unsubstantiated. If they actually have it on video, I guess the prosecuters believed they had a slam dunk case and didn't need it. However, it could take the case into the realm of a hate crime whic carry harssher penalties I would assume.

meh..whatever....the whole thing is sad....girl will be forever scarred and these guys have ruined their lives.
