Maybe you will be able to afford to keep your coordinators now.

Texas and Florida thank us for giving them tons of tax revenue that would be going to our state and local economy with a home game. New Orleans badly needs a kickoff game.

Or we could donate it back to the University like we already do

some universities donate back, some shut down their "competition".

I would rather be 0-12 and the former than win a nc and be the latter.

LSU is starting to see some nice income from neutral site arrangements. The $4.75 million due from the Miami game in 2018 is expected to be the most LSU will receive to play in a neutral site game, but the school is likely padding the coffers with frequently scheduled neutral site games. LSU has played in a neutral site game four out of the last five seasons.
quote:
Alabama and West Virginia split $6.4 million to play in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta in 2014. Ole Miss and Boise State split $3.1 million for the same event a couple of days earlier. The Cowboys Classic offered even bigger payouts for each school in its game. In 2012 Alabama and Michigan each received $4.7 million. The previous year LSU was paid $3.5 million and Oregon received $2 million to play in the game. The Florida Gators are expected to receive $6 million to play in the 2017 Cowboys Classic, against Michigan. Florida State will receive $3.5 million to play Ole Miss in Orlando in 2016.

That actually is about the same as a home game, if you have a home game and sell 75,000 seats @ $60 you get $4,500,000. Tickets are often higher than $60, but you do have to pay the other team.

Home games make more money than neutral games.

Except you are missing revenues from concessions, parking and seat licensing. Also have added travel expenditures for team and staff to travel. It could be considered a wash in some cases for recruiting and program visibility, since neutral site games tend to get better tv coverage. The thing lost in canceling out a home that gets overlooked is donor visits/gifting some of the biggest donations I have heard of are cultivated during home games/weekends. Easy to pull the wallet strings on alumni when they get sentimental for campus and game weekends.

All true...not to even mention the loss of revenue/taxes/hrly. pay for all the game day support staff etc.. Why the B.R./area chamber dosen't even bother to point this out, is very perplexing.
Don't get me wrong, an occasional big neutral site game is just fine....but, at the cost losing virtually all chances at great home/home games, degrading the home schedule....why can't they be done every 3 years or so ?
The "recuiting angle" is always brought up...but seriously, what TX recruit would rather not experience a BIG game @ TIGER STADIUM...I've not heard ONE recruit say "the reason I chose LSU was the game in Atl,Dallas,Houston...it's a myth/excuse.
Next is the "we need to have a game for fans/alumni in the neutral site areas" They give us sooo much support and there are sooooo many of them...really ? Lets just see when we schedule No.TX in Dallas,Appalachian St. in Atl. and Sam Houston St. in Houston while the local season ticket holders/fans enjoy the Wisky,Oregon,N.C. type games !
