If he's trying to argue that a tournament championship means more than a regular season championship, then he's probably lost his mind.
The only reason why this thread exists is because the old man is thoroughly rustled by that fact.

I think he's angry because he's saying an SEC Tournament win is bigger than a Final Four or something like that.

UK fans are pretty serious about basketball (both men and women)

About 80,000 turned up in a football stadium in the Tubby era to watch a regular season non conference game - I think it is still the record and in no threat of being broken.

About 24,000 turned up last year in Rupp for a regular season non conference basketball (women) game - If not a record, probably in the top 5 and one not easily broken.

This is coming from a fan of a team that brings 80,000+ to watch a spring game scrimmage.

Is OP serious or is this a response thread to all the "Why do Bama fans *INSERT stupidest, felonious and trashy event in NCAA* ?"

He's convinced alabama is better than LSU in basketball due to their sec tourney titles + regular season titles. When the rest of the sec fans were explaining that LSU has more regular season titles, sweet 16s, elite 8s, final 4s, he said that final fours don't mean shite because the team didn't win it all. He even went on to say that he'd rather win the sec tourney than go to the final four and lose. The guy is an idiot.

I've got family in Kentucky and I've been there several times. Every house in the state that has a kid and/or ever had a kid has a basketball goal (of some variety) somewhere in the yard.

Indiana = same thing.

It is what it is.

This is a fact. Also fans that generally can't afford to see the Cats play in Rupp (which is a lot... Imagine there only being 24k seats in Bryant-Denny) will take their annual vacation to the SEC tournament.

Travel example:

The Basketbowl was a college basketball game between Michigan State University and the University of Kentucky held on December 13, 2003 at Ford Field, a domed American football stadium in Detroit, Michigan. The announced crowd of 78,129 set a record for verified attendance at a basketball game in history.
