He's that good, or at least has been that good during his time at JUCO. Long before there was a competition amongst fans about who was the best (I'm not even sure either had committed yet) there was a CC coach who was asked by one of the recruiting sites about Jovon and Kamara and who he would take between the two. He praised Jovon but said he would take Kamara and that "Alvin is just special."
I think both are definitely worthy of the praise they've received. And really both of them are that good.
Also, it's easier to project JUCO RBs than DTs so I'm not sure the Hooks situation would be comparable.
