First of all - I am so happy Kiffin is back.

Now . . . I'm not sold on it being Coker. He had his shot with Lane last year and couldn't pull it off. Who will it be . . . and why?

According to Us

Rank | Name | Avg Order

1. Jacob Coker (1.37)
2. Cooper Bateman (2.74)
3. David Cornwell (2.78)
4. Alec Morris (3.61)
5. Blake Barnett (4.35)

probably going to be the guy who took every backup snap this year. coker only had fall camp to learn a new system. he looked pretty good when he got in the game, except for some clock management issues. it going to be coker, then a battle between bateman, cornwell, and barnett (although i doubt a true freshman is going to win it)

Unless Blake Barnett come in and sets the world on fire, I don't see how it isn't Coker.

who is the upper classman? just like most other positions, regardless of talent, the upper classman is the starter. whether he actually produces or gets beat down the middle most plays.

Alec Morris.

Because common sense says I rather see the QB perform a quick kick on 4th down than let the best punter in the nation on the field.

I don't really agree with the whole "Coker couldn't beat out Sims" thing. Saban likes seniority and dedication. Sims was years ahead (Literally) of Coker on both. And not to downplay Sims' talent. He's an amazing athlete. Starting Coker with a single off season to learn the playbook, system, and players could have been catastrophic. Plus it plays a big part in a player's ability to be a leader. You've got to start the guy who knows the players and the system like the back of his hand. That's how Sims lead the drive at LSU, that's how he bounced back in the Iron Bowl, and that's how he gave us a 12 win season.

I think Coker possessed more raw talent, but Sims hands down knew everything about his team, the playbook, and what it took to lead the team.

That being said, yes. Coker will probably start. If he can fix his stiffness and release, he will be stellar.

If Coke had been on campus last spring and played in the spring game it would have been him. Sims was so bad but they put a lot into Sims being developed until Coke showed up. If Coker had been in the spring they would have put most of their focus on developing him. Just my 2 cents. So Coker is probably it until someone beats him out

Blake looks like he has a lot of work to do on his throwing mechanics before he is ready to play in the most competive division in sports.

I hope he takes a redshirt and learns the playbook/process. I've also heard he is a cocky sonvabitch. Not a huge problem, but not great to hear from our frosh QB. Hope he can adopt a lot of Sims personality. BS was an absolutely incredible leader. The team would have caught a bullet for him. If Blake tunes up his throwing motion and gets his head on straight, I think we may have something special. We'll see.

I like a "cocky" QB. Mostly because people confuse the perfect amount of confidence with being cocky.

AJ was a gigantic douche bag. I've heard right from players mouths they didn't like playing for him. Blake is still green as hell. I'd prefer him to be a little more humble (then apparently he is, I have no first hand interactions with him.) im fine with some cockiness and moxie from my Q, but earn that shite. Being a 5* from Cali isn't earning it. Like I said, we'll see.

This doesn't surprise me. The whole team looked depressed through the 2013 season, LSU game aside. During every big game except for the West Virginia and Arkansas games this year, they looked ecstatic.
