Arkansas came in and gave Kentucky a legit BB rival. We fired Nolan and program went to shite. Us entering conference had triggered other teams to step it up including Kentucky. We went to shite but Florida filled the gap for a bit.

Then the football arms race began. Schools started pouring more and more into FB and less into BB. Top recruits don't want to go to a "football" school. So UK stays up and everyone else falls to the wayside. Even MSU was a team to be reckoned with.

LSU will probably make the tournament this year and has the top recruit in the nation next year. They dropped off for awhile but the future is bright for them.

Because the Big East went all in on basketball and people in the south don't care enough about basketball. Hell, the reason Grant hasn't been fired yet despite a completely stagnant program is that the people with the money don't care enough to pay the buyout.

Well, Florida had their extremely great run in the mid to late 2000's, but it was more of an aberration than anything.

UF played in the national title game in 2000. Won the titles in 2006 and 2007. Went to the Elite Eight in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and then made the FInal Four again in 2014. One of the winningest programs over the last 15 years.

I don't think its that SEC basketball is that bad.

I think it has more to do with an over inflated reputation to the Big East. They used to get 8-10 teams in yet have only two left after the first weekend.

I think our league is as good as anyone's this season.
