You are butthurt. He almost played for a NC at UF. His OC for that year left him high and dry. The guy he hired, who Saban wanted, was a flop. He allowed his OC to recruit the players he wanted. His only mistake was trying to change offensive schemes, which can kill the career of any coach. Mac Brown and Tuberville are two examples. But to say he sucks at recruiting is just you allowing you emotions make you act like a women

Wait he rides Meyer's talent and finishes one year with more than 6 regular season wins while leaving the program in far worse shape than he found it and we're supposed to think he was a good coach?

Gene Chizik did far, far more for Auburn than Boom did for UF and you guys couldn't wait to fire him.

Florida shouldn't even have to recruit. They have the best players in the land in their backyard. Coach Mac is going to fail.

He basically thought recruiting OL was unimportant. With the kind of O we have shown for the last 4 years only very few good O players came, and NONE were developed.

I will never understand that, he basically said at his first press conference that the SEC was a line of scrimmage league and that you need a dominant offensive line to win but yet his recruiting and development of olineman was treacherous. I thought oline play under him was gonna be great. Boy was I wrong.

Olmec,

He always said a lot of things and seldom followed through, hell his ability to kiss arse and deflect blame probably bought him another year.

They're currently #87 in the country and last in tSEC (according to the composite.) UF has eight commitments, one four star and seven three stars. I was a little surprised that Coach Mc didn't go for a recruiter at OC, like Napier, since it's his offense the OC will be running.

Two of the big three (Ivey, Cowart, Cece) appear to be headed elsewhere

How will UF finish this class? Predicted ranking? How many recruits will they take this cycle?

There was a recent article on this. Their 247 recruiting analyst is a little more optimistic than I'd be despite UF's ability to finish strong. He thinks UF can finish with a class ranked 25-35 but all that's pinned on Ivey, Jefferson and Cowart which are also being recruited by Muchamp to Auburn.

From the article:

quote:

If Florida were in Conference USA, it currently would have the ninth best recruiting class according to Rivals.

If it were in the Sun Belt Conference it would be tied for No. 6.

Those numbers are staggering enough. But when you look at the current rankings for the 14 SEC programs, the Gators are dead last.

And not just by a slim margin.

Florida is 51 spots behind the team with the second worst class in the conference — Vanderbilt, a program with seven winning seasons in the last 50 years.

-SNIP-

Florida’s class is ranked tied for 100th by Rivals, 87 by 247Sports and 73 by Scout.

And here's the big danger since it looks like so much is riding on the big 3 prospects:

quote:

Chris Nee, recruiting analyst for 247Sports, believes the Gators could finish ranked somewhere between No. 25 and 35.

“I think they’ll bounce back pretty well,” Nee said. “But they are definitely in scramble mode down the stretch.”

The reason for Nee’s optimism is three five-star in-state prospects that have Florida high on their list of finalists. Defensive ends Byron Cowart of Seffner and CeCe Jefferson of Glen St. Mary and offensive lineman Martez Ivey of Apopka all are ranked first or second nationally at their positions. 247Sports has each among the top 7 players in the country.

The three also are considering Auburn, where Cowart and Jefferson certainly will continue to be pursued by Muschamp, the Tigers new defensive coordinator.

“If this is a class you end up missing on all of them it could set you back a few years,” Tyson said.

The article also points out that strangely enough Michigan is in the same boat right now despite Harbaugh.

CeCe hasn't even been in contact with the UF staff until they came to see him yesterday. This is a quote from Cece's dad Sunday afternoon.

quote:

"I really don't know. I have not met anybody from Florida yet. It's a new staff. We just aren't that familiar with them,” said Leo Jefferson.

He had Meyer's recruits, and it was one of the best defensive talents ever at UF. A lot of lucky games that year. I honestly have no idea how that LSU game transpired like it did. Good grief, if we had a semi mediocre offense we would have won the NC that year, but boom was clueless and enamored with Jeff Driskel.

Boom sucked at being a HC. He had no idea about anything regarding an O. He was not a good recruiter. He recruited DBs and DLs, and made DE's TEs. Enough said.

And any University of Florida coach who doesn't understand that recruiting locally is essential is a terrible recruiter.
Florida should have never been on a battle for Cowart and Cece who grew up Gator fans. Boon could never lock them up to Florida, and now with a completely new staff is an uphill battle. Mac is making a conscious effort to have coaches on staff that recruit well in Florida. That will pay dividends in the future. Boom was clueless.
