Pruitt as a HC? Lol no. I realize the point of the thread was no Kiffin or smart but it was more because those would be the first page of predictions and I wanted some HC names. If we go with a current assistant. It's Smart.

Pruitt will be the man one day. Smart will never be the man. Just my opinion of course.

Smart will always get talent. He's an ACE recruiter. At Alabama they get recruits based on the program but get the top 10 in the country type recruits based on NFL pedigree. Smart would hire an OC to run himself. If he hired a homerun type OC, he will field a top 5 team every year alone with his recruiting and solid defense. Don't think his defenses will be as good as saban's.

Josh Mcdaniels. Drafting Tebow killed him at Denver. He will get another shot one day, plus he is young.

first of all, I can't recall even ONE coach that followed a legend and was successful. yes, miles has been successful at LSU but saban was not a legend there because he only coached 5 years and no one anointed him with legend status (until he coached at bama and begin to rack up nc's that is). just look what happened to bama when the bear left. no one was good enough and, with the exception of a short time with stallings, bama went into a mediocre period and couldn't find a top coach for shite. hiring saban was as lucky of a break as it gets.
second, people that think these top NFL coaches are going to line up to follow saban are delusional in their thinking.
so dream on. BUT, imo, saban is going to coach awhile. he's a workaholic and will probably go Bowden on y'all. he has the power to stay as long as he wants. it is very possible that saban will stay longer than the fanbase wants him to. he has the power to get the president of the university canned, believe me (a la bobby knight).
