Shortly after Auburn fans welcome two new live oaks to Toomer's Corner in February, the city plans on beginning the process of transforming the other three corners.

The renovations include a raised intersection with a permanent inlaid stone tiger paw print and the planting of trees that match the live oaks on the university side of the intersection.

They aren't working with much room on any of their 3 corners so good luck

I agree. This is a really dumb idea unless they plan to knock down Toomers drugs, a bank and an old bank to make room for live oaks on the corners.

Isn't the university plan to add like 20 oaks to the corner going all the way back to SH? I thought that was the design that they approved.

My thoughts exactly - They aren't doing anything with the vault, the bank, or toomer's drugs so, um....

Yay we're getting rid of more parking spaces. Because you know, we had too much parking as is...

And spending $1.7 million to do it!

My only grief is that I think we should have the interlocking AU versus the paw print. We're not Clemson

Yeah. They're going to run into problems if they want to plant live oaks. Those trees have huge root systems and the city doesn't have the room or funds to accommodate them. Clearing out few parking spaces won't be all that bad, though. The ones right by the corner are tough to get out of.

They could have given this project as a senior thesis to the landscape architecture students. Wouldn't have cost anything, and I guarantee they'd come up with some more original ideas.

The Vault bar closes in May

If Compass or whatever renovates they would have some legit room on those corners depending on what they do

They need to get rid of that motel behind the bars and throw up a parking deck

How long has the SGA been painting that law print with the AU in the middle though?

I haven't heard about the Vault closing. I know the building has a new owner, but do you have any idea why?

no clue. I spend probably 4 nights a week there between it being Bodega and the vault

That place was my jam. If true, that is very sad. I cannot understand why Auburn can't support more bars than it does.

Bodega was my home.

Does Auburn really struggle to support bars? When I was in school most seemed pretty packed during the predictable times.

It struggles if you are not the 3-4 main ones. Sky, 17/16, Quixotes, and Bourbon st. seem to be the only consistent ones. Everything else pretty much constantly rotates closing and re-opening.

Though, compared to most college bars, Sky is really like 3-4 bars itself and 17/16 counts as probably 2, which makes the numbers look smaller than they are.

Then there is Supper Club. My home away from home.
