Why is it dumb? Historically, they are a huge rival for us.

And better than playing Clemson.

Name one thing that is a positive about playing GT besides a pajama parade and a closer bus drive (and some nostalgia for the old timers).

There's just not a lot to gain from playing tech... and their offense is a bitch to prepare for, and their OL cut blocks a shitton.

if paul johnson wasn't their coach, i'd be all for it... but that flexbone offense or whatever it is makes playing them in the regular season a straight up nightmare...

do not want

The offense is way more fun to watch for one and I disagree with all the puss people that are afraid of it. Play em. More exposure to atl recruits (as if needed). Already stated but it's closer too. Which means I get to see more OOC games.

we're not getting more exposure in ATL by playing tech

I can already see it now... mid September game... 12:00est kickoff on ESPN2... grant field 50% auburn... no one is giving a shite about it... and BAM 400 rushing yards later by some QB who should be playing DB at UGA, you're wondering WTF just happened... meanwhile every DT on your roster is in line to get their knee scoped from 80 someodd cut blocks.

But we'll still play Clemson right because Jay Jacobs knows how important that game is to Auburn

J/k. Tech is a nice surprise and would be a great home-home

Pretty sure Nick Marshall graduated this year so it'll either be Jeremy Johnson or Sean White at QB for us

Or maybe I'd just rather save our D-linemen's knees and play a big time PAC12 or B1G team instead of scheduling out of convenience and a lack of imagination?

Time to schedule like a national team. GT is settling.

Before GT taking that reputation, it was Auburn's

it's not fear... it's just that there's little to gain by beating tech... beating them is what people expect you to do... lose and you look bad... throw in the unorthodox offense and it's a recipe for failure.

At least with teams like Cal and K-state, there's national exposure to be gained by playing them, even if you're 'expected' to beat them... that's not the case with GT, who has next to zero nationally following.

Hey listen you couldn't find someone who will stay more out of the middle of this debate than me on this board

My point is that as a Tech fan & alum I have a half chub seeing some of the praise for their ability to beat a legit team like Auburn

Wreck Tech Pajama Parade...an old tradition... supposedly we greased the train tracks and they had to walk a long distance to play. We killed them..

The Wreck Tech parade, and the pajamas, date back to their first football meeting in 1896 where legend has it that the A.P.I. students snuck to the train station under cover of darkness and greased the tracks. The train couldn't get stopped at the station and the Tech players had to walk some five miles back to Auburn to get their 45-0 beating.

Tech, the legend says, wouldn't play Auburn again until there were assurances that there'd be no more train jokes.
