3rd & Chavis, Fact or Fiction?

I was a little intrigued by 3rd and Chavis. I wanted to find out if it was sour grapes or if there was some truth to it. So I looked at 4th quarter stats from this past year for all games that were decided by a score or less. I only excluded Notre Dame because well Chavis was our DC by then.
WISCO
3rd Downs: 1/3 (Wisco converted 1 3rd down on 3 attempts)
Points Given Up: 0
Turnovers: 2
STATE
3rd Downs: 0/4
Points Given Up: 3
Turnovers: 1
FLORIDA
3rd Downs: 1/3
Points Given Up: 10
Turnovers: 1
OLE MISS
3rd Downs: 1/6
Points Given Up: 0
Turnovers: 1
ALABAMA
3rd Downs: 2/5
Points Given Up: 3
Turnovers: 1
TEXAS A&M
3rd Downs: 1/3
Points Given Up: 10
Turnovers: 1
TOTALS
3rd Downs: 6/24 or 25%
Points Given Up: 26 or 4.33 per 4th quarter
Turnovers: 7 or 1.67 per game
So is 25% good, bad, or somewhere in the middle? Well Louisville lead the nation in 3rd down opp conversions defense with 25.79%.
A little easier to see how good the scoring def is. 4.33 a quarter = 17.32 a game which would rank 6th in the nation for scoring def this year.
And finally turnovers. 1.67 per quarter = 6.67 per game. That is insanely good, but how insanely good? You have to go back to 2005 when Kent St and La Tech averaged 9.2 & 7.9 a game. Most years the takeaway leader is is in the low 3s. or even high 2s.
Basically 3rd and Chavis is the big pile of bull shite when looking at the 2014 season. In all reality LSU's 4th quarter defense was elite in close games.

of course it's fiction. It's their butthurt showing.
But let's not kid ourselves, we do the same shite. We pick up memes and repeat them ad nauseum til our fanbase thinks they are true. It's annoying as frick tbh and I only laugh when I see other fanbases do the same

LSU knows that the trade of Steele for Chavis was highway robbery, they just don't want to admit it

They really are our mirror image in terms of fanbases mindset. It's disturbingly hilarious

We had a pretty glorious melt the day Malik chose Texas and Mack decommitted

Melted like champions on 12/19
shite was all over the floor, viscous and plentiful.

3rd and Snyder was a black hole of fail. I'm quite comfortable with 3rd and Chavis.

We had to make it to third down for there to be third and Snyder

Better than 2nd and Steele

I loved 3rd and Snyder. It was like a comedy of errors. 3rd and 3 --let's play our corners 10 yards off the ball and concede it with a simple hot route. 3rd and 19, no problem! We got A&M right where we want them! Put an inept linebacker on a running back and leave him wide open on a wheel route. Or get no pass rush and let a QB play backyard football to the point where someone was going to be open 20 yards down the field eventually....
I could go on....

Let's be honest, LSU doesn't actually "blow" games late more than any other team. Their fan base is just more pissed than others when it does happen because they've already been outside of the stadium talking shite for an entire quarter and now look like morons.

They're more pissed about it than others because Miles has brainwashed them all into thinking the primary job of the offense is to "protect the defense", and it's up to the defense to ensure a win whenever the offense stops shitting the bed.
It is simultaneously hilarious and depressing to see.

Just LSU fans rationalizing the loss of their best coach to a divisional rival
