Can some Aubies give me some insight on this kid? Looks like he was committed to Auburn since July of '14.

I figure this has something to do with AU's pursuit of Kentucky commit (for now) Dinson, but wanted to see if anyone had any insight into what kind of player he is.

He's lanky as all hell. Probably more of a zone guy or potential safety convert. Melvin Smith loved his size (pause) and offered and he committed on the spot. Didn't really fit Boom's system so we basically tried to place him elsewhere.

We're not really going after Dinson though. Or at least he's probably not among our 3 top CB targets at this point.

Dinson may visit but I don't think he is very high on our board. Anyhow, Westry is a lanky cover corner that is super raw. We are doing well late and Muschamp didn't see Westry fitting into what he wanted to do. They talked several times and it looks like Auburn coaches helped him find a landing spot.

Good kid according to anyone that has interacted with him.

Stoops plays a lot of Cover 3, so this kid may work out just fine for UK.

Did the prior AU DC run zone defenses?

Previous staff liked having long, rangey corners. Champ wants guys with good man skills. Should do good at safety or in a zone heavy scheme.

Hope he has a great career. We would have given him a scholarship, but the guys had folks they liked better.

He is very raw, but has good potential as a zone defender. Muschamp wants smaller, quicker cover corners. I think Javarius Davis is a strong Auburn lean and is the highest on our board along with a Louisville commit, Redwine.

Could be the tallest corner I've ever seen.
