How quickly after Kiffin's gone will Gumps say he was pushed out?

My bet is they will blame the comments he made at that presser where he made fun of Saban being short.

I think we'll thank him for what he did this past season and wish him the best in the future.

Exactly. My only problem with Lane (and I knew this the second or third game in) is that I knew he wouldn't stick around long.

Kudos to him for making a good career move coming here, and shockingly... I now wish that guy well. Can't believe I think positively about the chap.

I wrote a fairly elaborate, snarky response to some of the responses in that thread last night. I just coulnd't bring myself to add fuel to the fire even though I totally agreed with the ultimate topic premise.

I can't keep up - are we a joke because we hired Kiffin, or because he is interested in leaving to become an NFL coordinator? Swamp logic confuses me.

I really disliked him before he came, he has not done or said anything out of line and the offense was very successful this year.

But as you said, if he leaves right now, I won't miss him. I certainly have a better view of him than I did this time last year.

Here is some real talk.....Lane taking the 49ers job would be a promotion and Saban always supports his staff members to take promotions. This is exaxctly opposite from Lance Thompson. Lance Thompson was asked to seek other opportunities and he did so.

With all that said, if Lane sticks around for a couple more years he will have his pick of major head coaching jobs. That is a fact.........

Totally different situation than Steele or Thompson imho. I hope he chooses to stay.

Now, that all depends on whomever the new QB is. Sims looked like a G all year because ultimately when he couldn't make the toss his wheels got him out of trouble. We'll never see a more elusive QB here again... at least for a long time I imagine.

However, if he takes a subpar QB and finds a way to make him kick arse again I definitely agree with you.

And to think what Kiffin did with Sims makes his Crompton transformation look amateur.

He won't get a chance to do that again until...

...next season.
