The baseline for stars is how ready a HS recruit is for college.
While logic dictates that's how they should be ranked, it's not. The rankings are based on pro projected draftability and none of the sites make no bones about it. For example, if Chandler Cox was given stars based on his college potential impact for teams that use a full back he would be a concensus 4* easily instead of borderline on 3 sites a a 3* on another just giving him a composite 4th* at the very last ranking.

Repost since its at the bottom of the last page:

KN does not think FSU is a serious factor with Cowart even with the Lawing hire
Also says Bama has no spots left for Chidi
Doesn't think it's over with Burt. In it with Godwin. Very much in it with Ryan Davis

There's also this note KN tried to slip by. He thinks AU has taken the lead for Ivey.

He thinks we took the lead w/ Carlton Davis also and said Tega did not have a rod inserted during surgery like most thought.

He answered that one weird. I didn't know if he was talking about Ivey, Davis or both.

You can pull up all the stats you want but you need to realize I'm not bashing the recruiting system. The fact is there are twenty 2*s and below that will be starting in the super bowl after being overlooked in high school. That's an incredible accomplishment for them. Hell, the two 2's we bring in would consider their career successful if they merely earned a scholly, much less start in the super bowl.

I am not saying the recruiting system is broken because it is not. I am saying development must be there along with the good classes or else the rankings won't mean shite.

Unknown at this point. A lot of the numbers are up in the air.

If we had to take one over the other, I imagine we would take Ivey. But if we did take both I would imagine we'd take one less WR

Cool. Thanks for clarifying. I'm just tired of the people who pass along posts or tweets like the one you did and use it to bash the system. So when I see a post like that I revert to system basher mode.

If we got Ivey I think we would take CVO as a last resort after missing on positions of need.

If we miss on Burt, Godwin, Slayton I think we'll pass on a 2nd WR for CVO

I do believe we miss on all three too

Yea it was weird. Given the Hoke CB flip to AU though and Keith answering the way he did makes me think Ivey and the opinion may have even surprised him a bit.

There's another wildcard in all that too. Torrance Gibson has the feel of not ending up at toSU as much as he does. He just set an OV to Miami so I guess it could be them, us, or LSU.

Any school can get lucky and produce a no-star kid that goes on to develop into a star player, however, to ultimately WIN in collegiate football you need many more than one guy. That is why stars matter.

Just read LSU tidbit notes after Gibson's OV and FWIW they think it's either stick with tOSU or flip to AU.

Thinking logically here, I think we may take TG instead of a 2nd WR if we can get him. Here's why. We have 4 QBs on campus now. Jason is the only one that will destroy you big time with the run. If we get TG there is no way he and Jason stay at QB. One of them will be a WR. If we get Gibson then we either have the Big WR in him or the speedy slot guy in Jason the staff wants by default. Gibson w/ Godwin or Ryan Davis would be the ideal fits for what the staff wants to finish w/ at WR.

Gibson is a guy I'm not sure about. He is a hell of an athlete but not a position of need anywhere. We don't need another quarterback in this class and we don't really need another safety as much as a corner. Couple that with us backing off earlier with rumors of handlers(which I hope was bullshite to cover him not feeling us at the time).

I don't think he ends up at OSU now that they have a quarterback war raging up there.

Just saw E's newer post. I thought Gibson was a projected safety too but it might have been receiver that I heard.

Boom likes him there but we are done at safety. The O staff has always liked him at WR if QB did not work out.
