Some recent CB's

Keith predicted Carlton Davis to flip to AU.
Hoke predicted Key to USCe and Ivey to AU.

The injury scares me... who knows if he will get back to 100%... and even if he does, is he injury prone?... or does the rehab time stunt his learning curve?

If Hutch is processed does this not offset Shannon?
Other way around. Shannon being locked in likely means Hutch will be gone.

Agreed 100%

A snapped leg is a freak injury, has nothing to do with how durable he is. But he probably hasn't even played enough for us to really know

I actually agree with you on this one. If he were committed to us already when this happened I understand standing by him but when he isn't committed to you and you are still having to go after him to get him, I would prefer to take a proven guy without an injury entering college.

The way I would list as order of priority. As you can see, defense is the priority in my opinion to finish the class with the exception of Godwin, who could be either a corner or receiver and Ivey who is an elite tackle. If we miss on Ivey, I just don't see another tackle as a huge priority ahead of taking defensive guys.

1. End - Cowart
2. End - Cece/Key. whichever.
3. LB Holland
4. Ath - Godwin. Could move to corner if not needed at receiver
5. T - Ivey
6. CB - 2 of them. Not sure of any skills
7. WR - Ryan Davis
8. Wr - Patrick
9. T - Chidi
10. End - Tega

A quote from Cece's dad when asked about UF. Seems like UF is dropping the ball.

Also says Cece will narrow it down to 3 or 4 schools in the next few days and let the coaches know who's still in it.

From what I read that's not a concern

fair question

Shouldn't. He supposed to be good to go by May. That's before he would even enroll at AU. Plus he will likely RS a year.

E, unless I'm mistaken......he was asking if essentially, Shannon would count as Hutch, if Hutch is processed, therefore not using a spot from our 8 that are left.

That's fair but the reality is raw kids rarely have the physical tools for his position. When I say rare I mean like 1 out of 1000 DEs. I don't want to pass on him and he end up kicking our arse at LSU for 3 years.

Current roster departures has 0 affect on the max number we can sign. That is solely based on the previous year's enrollment. We can sign 8 more whether Hutch is processed or not. With Ian committed in this class now we have 80 on scholly or committed to be on scholly. To enroll the max of 28 by June or August there does have to be 3 more attritions before then. That should be easy to do given yearly attrition average is 8-11 and we have 3 on roster now who are believed top not be on roster soon in Denson, Harrell, and Hutch.

If Tega's injury had been an open fracture with the muscle and tissue damage that comes with such things, I'd be right there with you. But this was a simple (closed) fracture. Once he heals and gets over the soreness and stiffness and rebuilds the muscle atrophied from a few months of being immobilized, he should be as good as new.

Look at it this way: If you're a coach, what you're getting if you sign this kid is someone with all the physical attributes that can't be coached, and very few of the ingrained bad habits that come with poor coaching at lower levels, so you don't have to spend the first year getting those bad habits "un-learned" (often only to see them return later when the kid is on the field under stress.)

I just prefer guys who are sec ready like Cowart or just need a little conditioning to bulk up
I think pretty much everyone would love to get guys at Cowart's level at all positions every year. Just doesn't necessarily work that way

With the drugs out there today, raw talent becomes jacked SEC ready talent in an off-season.

That is if you play under a non Chiz or EJ D

A telling part from Rebs 247 article about Cece talking to his dad Leo
quote:

nothing has changed since CeCe Jefferson announced Ole Miss as his leader.

"Ole Miss is still in the same position as they were before. Nothing has changed,” said Leo Jefferson.

It was a very long and in depth article w/ Cece's dad and through it I feel I got to learn a bit about them. From what I read about them I feel this weekend, with it being lower key and all, would have been a better OV choice for AU to get them in. They really wanted a lot of 1 on 1 time with a staff and I don't know how much they got that at AU last weekend with the huge number of visitors we had. Also The Rebs DL and DC coaches seem to have the best rrlationships with Cece's dad and that will be a huge factor.
