Is Saban cleaning house on defense, or are these guys jumping ship?

It appears to me that Saban may have told a few guys that they should look around. This is probably a good idea considering Bama needs a change of philosophy.

What do you guys think?

Saban told them that next year is his last and to go ahead and start looking for jobs.

Pretty nice of him really.

Not only is Saban the best recruiter of players, he's the best recruiter of coaches in the country..it's a fact...his folks are in positions everywhere. You'll find no "gnashing of teeth" among the Alabama faithful when it comes to these areas....everyone else...not so fortunate.

It's your garden-variety attrition that always happens around this time of year. These guys are in a very transient profession, almost every team has a couple folks leave every year.

It's almost impossible to have a civil conversation in this forum.

I think he's sitting on his toilet cutting himself over the loss of Steele.

What possible difference does that make? Being a good boss and being a good procurer of quality coaches has nothing to do with each other. Are you just fricking stupid , or something?

I don't think Bama has a problem they just played in first playoff, one game away from NC. Usually when you win you stand the chance at losing coordinators to higher paying gigs.

Either way, Bama's Defense hasn't been as strong the last two seasons. Time for change no matter how the defensive changes are taking place at Bama.

Things that will help Bama's Defense
This isn't even on the defensive side

* Bama needs to get back to it's roots
(Run the rock and clock)
* Having a rested defense goes a long way
(Especially with some offense's trying to get sub-advantages)
* Having schooled defense is just as important for success. Ones offense needs to be capable of giving the defenses time to look over what any given offense is doing in game. Time killing drives are huge for defensive in game adjustments, and Bama's offensive having quicker scoring drives prevents this from happening more than not now. Plus, passing 2 or 3 straight times with 3 & outs a bunch, is a real killer for any defense trying to look at formation pictures, routes being run, OL blocking schemes, and whatever else the opposing offense are trying to do in game. The beginning of game and after halftime are huge strategic moments in games, and the more time you give a defensive player or coach to grasp what's going on. The better off your defense will be.

Seems many forget that those time consuming drives Saban/Bama had during the 2008-2011 helped Bama's defense stay rested, look at film early in games for adjustments, and other defensive benefiting factors came into play during games. When Bama ran the rock more and don't even bother looking up past time possession stats. They can be misleading with Bama having huge leads in blow-outs games while they go into clock-chewing-mode. Bama inability or refusal to run the rock is hurting the defensive play in bigger games now.

If Saban and Bama want national defensive and championship glory again. Ride the Cam/OT and Henry/RB train the next two seasons to Championship chances. It's there if Saban sees it, and I sure hope Saban sees it because watching Bama become a Big 12 team pretty much the last two seasons. Has realy been awful and hard to watch at times.
