We needed his presence and recruiting skills bad. Would have made Diaz's defense much more dangerous.

Would have been nice but I'm sure O is going to demand significantly more money as just DL coach than we are going to pay Diaz as DC.

Would've made the Egg Bowl entertaining. But no you don't. Y'all really didn't need a jump at DL coach and recruiting wise, again, DL hasn't been an issue. He might have been able to help with other positions a little, but not a huge gain. If he wasn't going to be DC then I don't know what the true benefit would be.

Yeah we had no need for coach O. You can't make a hire based solely on recruiting.
Going to suck with him recruiting mississippi though. Thankfully he seems more focused on hindering Ole Miss than us.

The Freeze vs. Coach O dynamic will make our recruiting battles with LSU all the more interesting. And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared.

The guy is a former head coach and was a DL coach in the NFL. I have a feeling we could've used him on the DL, especially since our DL was less than stellar this year IMO.

Our defensive line was probably the best it's been in 10 years. We were better at getting into the opponents backfield than anyone else in the league last year.

If you really think our DL was sub par this year, I don't know how to talk to you. There is just no way to look at it and not say they were good. We struggled against Ole Miss and Tech, the two games we had no DC. Aside from those two games, I can't remember the last time we had as good of DL play as this year and there were certainly other years that we had more talent. Turner has done a hell of a job.

To elaborate, here are this years stats that relate to the DL.
Sacks - 37 (17 more than last year)
TFL - 84 (10 more than last year)
QB Hurries - 84 (32 more than last year)
Prior to the OM game, we only allowed an average of 120 rushing YPG.

But paying that kind of money solely for recruiting doesn't sound worth it to me. Especially when your d line is how it is.
