So, can we finally bench Madden for Beard full time please?

It's time obviously.

Seriously at least one Pel recruit a year has to tard out. Madden is fricking garbage this year. No hops, minimal handles, wildly inconsistent shot. Can't finish around the basket for shite. He's not a frick up off the court and plays defense though so he deserves some respect, but I don't like his awkward play style.

Madden is fricking awful

Slow, no defense, no smarts... just a skinny mouth breather

Cannot fricking wait until he takes that uni off for good, sorry not sorry

I think CMA has a little Houston Nutt in him. Playing his favorite players over his best players. There's, literally, no other explanation for Madden continuing to get big minutes. Hell, he evidently can't do ANYTHING egregious enough to warrant getting his arse put on the bench for more than a few minutes.

Beard is the best option we have at PG on this years team. There is no reason he shouldn't be the starter and play 2 to 1 ratio over Madden.

It's Maddening to watch. Pun intended

Maybe but I'd say top 4- regardless he's played consistently bad this season.

Yeah. Portis and Madden were the two best returning players I should say

I don't disagree but it's pretty obvious why Mike might believe that he could get back to playing on a high level.

Maybe he cant handle having his mins pressed by some newcomers. Guy doesnt pout when hes on the bench, seems like a good teammate, but god hes bad this year.

And what sucks is we`re going to need him to play unless durham can seriously start contributing.

Id love to know how madden plays in practice.

Durham is another guy that gives us relatively little. Watkins is a superior player. And that's not anything to be ashamed about. If Watkins had a consistent jump shot he'd be a helluva player. He's pretty good as it is, just from the way he gives 100% all of the time and plays smart, within himself.

Madden did play well last year. I even think he has a role on this team as a spot-up 3 point shooter (where he's most effective). But he cannot be on the floor against the zone (kills the ball movement). If we could force more teams to play man, I think we could get him some easy 3's.

We're gonna need Madden as a role player for sure, but I would rather go ahead and put the load on Beard now so he's ready to be the man come tourney time

hes getting plenty of mins and is quickly gaining MAs trust. since clemson, weve seen a shift to having beard on the court in late game situations. i trust he knows what hes doing. its always tricky sitting a sr for a frosh anyway.

Madden can hit Freethrows while Beard is close to giving Ricky Scott a run for his guard FT shoot % title...

Mike tried his last ditch effort over the last few weeks, so lets hope this was the breaker.

He pulled Madden from starting, tried to get him some key minutes and buckets to boost his confidence, he was doing alright/decent these last few games and you think maybe he's back to being decent and he got it together, then tonight.

Now you have to be done, 10-15 minutes max. Maybe less.

What sucks is we lose the rebounding battle by ONE but can't grab CRITICAL rebounds.

Agreed about Madden. Beard is obviously the better PG but he's got to be able to step up and make ft's when they count. Granted last night was a tough situation for a frosh. but your PG has to make those. That said he was a key cog in the comeback to get us to that point and alert enough to draw the foul and give himself a chance.

Madden is WAY to inconsistent for a PG and never looks comfortable against pressure.

It does not lay on one player's shoulders, but the Madden/Beard situation could keep us out of the tournament...
