It all fits into the bigger puzzle, a dollar saved in one area is a dollar that can be spent in another. I'm not trying to be a dick but you should understand that
Now, if you think we spend too much on our University, AD, coaches, etc. then that's a whole different argument

One thing we did was let Mike Hamilton take the stadium from 108,000+ to 102,000+ to build a bunch of luxury seating that remains half-empty.
A lot of long-time donors and season ticket holders lost their seats in that little deal. Some of them had the same seats for decades.
We're OK on the coaches salaries.
We're not OK on Jimmy Cheek siphoning money off athletics.

Please show some proof of Cheek taking money from the athletic department and allocating it elsewhere.
Also, what position do you hold in the university to know how our budget situation is right now? You just "know" that we have all of that covered?

I knew one the people that structured the contracts. The coaches salaries are covered now. We were in a hole on that. Donors have stepped up.

Here is my biggest bitch.
Tennessee football has always been a family thing. When tickets hit $100 apiece, plus parking, plus gas, plus food. You have hit the $600-700 mark for a family of 4 to take in a game. That doesn't even include the up front donation.
It is reaching a point where it is cost prohibitive for the average family to
do it for every single game.

To sort of support your side of this (I think), CFB as a whole will eventually have to redo things to make this whole live game thing work. Between ticket/gas/hotel/food prices all (generally, I know about current gas prices) higher than they've ever been combined with TV coverage being better than ever it's gonna get harder and harder to get a 100k ppl to fill up football stadiums
In fact this problem applies to all sports and stadiums/arenas even those that seat less than 100k
Now, the NBA/NFL Are still quite affordable IMO but they are at the advantage of having so many more games to generate revenue compared to football. But the tickets are the only part that's cheaper, the beers at Busch Stadium are still AT LEAST $8.25 and the food is ridiculous as well
It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out in the next couple of decades. As far as CFB goes I think the blue bloods will be fine as long as they properly manage their finances. Do we fit that criteria? I think we re a blueblood but have we properly managed our finances lately? That's up for debate

Most arenas are emphasizing luxury seating now. I'm guessing because the money makes sense. It was supposed to be one of the things really limiting Neyland, the lack of luxury seating.
It's a big business. On a side note, it's always frustrating to hear fans, media, everyone clamoring for more playoff games. Not realizing that the people who are hurt by this, are the players, playing for essentially free, and adding more games and tear on their bodies. And the people profiting are the ADs and broadcasters.

Yea what you said is basically the only thing I don't like about going to 8 team playoff and the main reason there will never be anything larger than 8
