I know we whine about respect but...

Unlike other SEC fanbases, we don't whine about rebuilding year in and year out. I thought SEC schools don't rebuild, you reload.

Unlike other SEC fanbases, we don't build our pride on discrediting other programs. Mizzou isn't a perfect program, but we win and lose based on our own performance. Other SEC fanbases have sucky teams so they spend their time knocking our success.

Unlike other SEC fanbases, we like the SEC and respect the tradition and competition. Other fanbases want to divide the SEC, the East/West nonsense. That's called a "Divide and Conquer" strategy you dumbasses. So when the West doesn't play well, outsiders can say the entire SEC is overrated.

Unlike other SEC fanbases, we don't ride Alabama's dick. They think getting beat by Bama gives them some kind of relevance or credibility. We got beat by Bama, and we want another shot, we give blowjobs to NO ONE!

Unlike other SEC fanbases, we understand the word Parity. Any given Saturday, you can lose. Everyone gets a boatload of money thanks to TV contracts, everyone has facilities, don't come focused, and you can lose to anyone. Losing to anyone is a setback. Our loss to Indiana is not worse than Arky shutting out LSU or OM.

Unlike other SEC fanbases, we understand, name recognition does not mean you have a good program. Winning does. And by the way, playing in the deep south does not automatically mean you play better football. I love how Mizzou was going to lose to OM because we had to travel to the deep south. (we won by the way.)

I will stop there, more to come later.

We have a long way to go as a fanbase. Like sell out our stadium more than once a year.

once again, guess I'll be the "turd in the punchbowl" to disagree w/ the zeitgeist du jour, but I just don't see a problem with the fans in general, sure we don't show up in the 100 thousands, but please tell me what exactly has happened that would warrant such a response in fan support? I know our AD wants to sell some 6 or 10 thousand SRO seats on the hill for these "sellouts" but really, why should more fans want the honor of sitting on the hill? And given all the excuses we constantly make about "too many in-state pro sports teams", do we not really see some good support?

When the day comes that we actually have an elite program I think you can expect to see an 80k crowd on a pretty regular basis. Baylor, TCU, Boise St, ksu, Oregon, all programs that manage to win with no more fan support than we have. Sorry I just don't see this as a legit excuse, feel free to counter with valid arguments and not just fanboy support.

Loooooong way to go. We are a middle tier program from a fanbase/revenue perspective.

Not sure that we are a middle tier school from a revenue perspective anymore.

No Bama Blowjobs!

I think it will take at least a SEC Championship to actually take the next step as a school/program/state. I agree we are 3rd tier. You have your blue bloods (bama, tOSU, Mich, multiple nattys), then you teams with a title or two, then us.

by SEC standards I believe we are exactly middle tier, either way the practice by some fans of using revenue, fan support and other peripheral factors as an excuse for top level success has become tedious, and pretty well discredited by the other mid tier programs who have managed to win and be competitive in spite of these issues.

So, we have all those things going for us.

I'd trade it all in a heartbeat for a conference championship, but whatever floats your boat dude.

Which is far different than middle tier of college revenue.

Forbes valuation that just released doesn't think too highly of us.

Mizzou is in fine shape. They have had a steady helm at the tiller to prevent that rebuilding season woe that has befallen some teams... and it does happen... and while the fans might not be selling out games now if the success continues I imagine that won't be a problem.

Mizzou is the ultimate SEC "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" team. Stay the course and keep recruiting players for the system and that SEC championship will come eventually.

The people that seem to buy the tickets to MU games are businesses and local alumni. It seems like the fan base is also kinda lacking in the student section. If they want more people at the games they should build seating for the average joe rather than the suites. Make the tickets a lot cheaper and make it basically free for students to go. The real money is in the TV contracts anyway. I think it would say a lot to recruits when they come to COMO in front of a packed house of 90,000. At the games Faurot field has a wealthier older alum feel IMO. It needs to feel more like arrowhead.

Also it sucks if you don't have a parking pass.

fan support matters, and matters a lot. Had our basketball program been supported through thick and thin we'd probably have hired someone other than Haith and Anderson (no disrespect to either)

And then we have the fans who have a problem with the medias so called bias against Mizzou. Now those people likely go to all games. But not selling out your stadium for every game is in itself lack of respect.

The excuses from people in both sports range from not playing anyone, to not beating anyone. So its an argument that cant be won. They have cornered both sides of it.

Gave you an upvote, and can I ask where did you come from? Not to be a dick but most of your fans are really irrational.

So would you say Arky and USCe strayed from the course? You guys have been around 20 years now and havent seen results from your labor.

Suites sell out very easily. There is a waiting list. GA is what we don't sell out regularly. They need to put seats on the hill.

Your interactions on tRant are influencing ya. There are a bunch of good Arky posters and I think all of them here are solid.

I'm so out of touch. Why don't students go to games like they used to? And that was when the teams where dog shite. And it doesn't seem to be isolated to Mizzou. Has it become too commercial? I dunno.

I wonder the same thing. It seems to be a much broader problem than student fan support at Mizzou; and it doesn't seem to be limited to football (Duke is having issues with the Cameron Crazies). I think part of it is the amount of stress/expectations thrust on college students today, probably a lot that don't perceive to have the time or money to go to games.

Because today there are endless options to see the games in the confines of a dorm room, a house or apartment where it's warm, dry, no lines to the bathroom and the frig is stocked.

This is why I haven't been to a movie theater in almost 20 yrs.
