With the football season coming to a strong end last night it is time for us to turn our attention to SEC basketball! The early part of conference play has looked good so far, but has left some questions about each team.
Kentucky- Big blue is without a doubt one of the most talented teams in college basketball, but some costly injuries have hurt the Cats, not to mention they have slept walk through their first two conference games. Do the Cats roll the SEC or get upset on their way to a conference championship?
Florida- A very slow start has hurt the Gators who were surrounded by a ton of hype coming into the season. Nonetheless they seem to be playing better and will be a very dangerous team in the SEC this year, but can they take the conference?
Tennessee- Donnie Tyndall is in the house and is leading the big orange. The question is where will he lead the Vol's? With a player like Josh Richardson they can beat anyone on any given night, but if they cant improve defensively they may be just middle of the road SEC team.
Georgia- The bulldogs are looking tough so far this year as Mark Fox has done an excellent job with this program, but the dawgs have struggled so far in conference play. Can they get over the hump and go from being a good to great SEC team?
South Carolina- Kevin Martin seems to have the Gamecocks much improved even though they have dropped some tough early conference games. They play their zone very well and have some guys who can attack on offense. Don't be surprised if the Cocks are a tough out in the SEC tourney later this year.
Vanderbilt- Kevin Stallings has a very solid team this year who seem to play very hard for their coach. They don't have a ton of star power, but do have some very solid shooters and it is hard for anyone to win at Vanderbilt. If they continue to improve Vandy could be a bubble team this year.
Missouri- This program looked like it could be a mess at the start of the year but Kim Anderson has the tigers playing hard. I expect the team to finish with a losing record, but they could sneak and up on some teams and pull some upsets.
Arkansas- These boys look dang good early on this year. Mike Anderson has his team playing hard and he has some players that can do some damage. It would not shock me one bit if they ended up being conference champs, expect big things from the hogs this year.
Ole Miss- This team has a couple guys who can score the basketball and they play hard on the defensive end. They have had more success of the past few years to they are playing with more confidence, and their near upset of Kentucky earlier this year showed they are not afraid of anyone.
Texas A&M- A very tough team that gave Kentucky all they wanted and more earlier this month. They are currently missing their best player which hurts their scoring a great deal, but nonetheless the Aggies play tough and could grab some wins this year.
Alabama- Anthony Grant has his guys playing very well right now. They have beaten some good teams and play extremely hard on defense, the major question is can they sustain it? This could be a make or break year for Grant so expect his best work.
Auburn- Bruce Pearl has done a very good job so far this year. I didn't think anyone could make the tigers relevant, but he has found away. If they continue to improve they could be a hard out in the SEC tourney later this year.
LSU- These guys have played very good this year besides blowing a lead in their first conference game. They are long and athletic and have some guys who can shoot the ball. If the tigers get right mentally they could be one of the top teams in the conference.
Mississippi State- These guys are bad with a capital B. Unless someone takes them lightly and plays flat I do not see them winning a conference game this season.
So this is my analysis of the league's teams, let me know if you agree or think I am an idiot, either way is fine because I am just happy we get to talk some basketball!

I am not an Arkansas fan (nothing against them) but I think that Mike Anderson is one of the most underrated coaches in the country.

Kentucky - UK needs a tougher pre-conference schedule. Playing too many cupcakes has caused the Cats to get off to a very bumpy start in conference play. They were very lucky to escape traditional powers Ole Miss and A&M. With the meat of the always-tough SEC still to come, it could be a blue year for the folks in Lexington.
Fixed it.

You def could be right. Coach Cal says regularly that his team is not very good.

Costly injuries or costly injury?

Let's just let this year slip by without incident.

They can definitely sustain their defense... while holding teams to just 40ppg probably won't last.. not many will score 60 which will have Bama in every game.
