Better National Championship claim for Alabama: '41 or '14?

Which year do you think Alabama has more of a claim to the National Championship 1941 or 2014?
I say 2014. Was #1 in the polls for most of the season and was the #1 seed in the playoffs. Won the SEC Championship and that's really the national championship. Oh and if we had the old system for one more year we would have played FSU for the title and would have dominated that game. We finished #4 in the final AP poll and I'm sure we can find some sportswriter to award us the title.
1941 we finished 3rd in the SEC and #20 in the final AP poll. I've never understood why we claim this one.

But you need to review the difference between 'claimed' titles and 'awarded' titles.

Is this really a title y'all claim? I always thought it was just butthurt fans, but if this is true then yalls "15" is shite

It's the only iffy one. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if the school stopped claiming it but I don't care that they claim it.

Sadly yes.
Every other one of our titles you can make a legitimate agreement about. The '41 is just dumb to claim. Hopefully when we win "16" we will just say the hell with it and keep the claim at 15

Also Bama was number one before the bowls (see 1973), losing a bowl game does not matter even when losing head to head. One of the first 1 vs 2 matchups, Bama loses, still split the MNC although everyone knows ND was the rightful champion

And National Titles were awarded before the bowl games back then.
