Something an Oregon fan told me in 2010

I remember talking to an Oregon fan in 2010 at length about their football team, it was before the national championship and he matter of factly told me that he knew they would lose.

His reasoning was that in these big prime time games with the extra fanfare and TV timeouts their offense could never reach the necessary pace to wear out opponents like they normally do.

Probably has a lot to do with actually playing a good team. They can wear out teams like Colorado though.

Show some data regarding commercials related to the NCG and every other bowl.

I always filed that conversation under "excuse making" until tonight.

I'm starting to think he was right.

I should have added a disclaimer: this is a highly subjective post based on very limited anecdotal evidence.

all the hunh coaches whined and cried until the ncaa forced the refs to start operating at a faster than normal pace. so maybe they could whine and cry to get the commercials cut out and give them another advantage. maybe they could not even allow running out of bounds or any stoppage of the clock at all while the hunh offense is in on the field.

i hate hunh. its making a mockery of football

Their lack of depth at the line is a huge factor.

That makes sense, but I really think they'd lose either way. Football's a team game and that includes defense. Oregon's offense leaves it's defense out to dry.

Interdasting.... you know, that's a really solid point.

Now you have me on fire to play a hardcore HUNH ball club in a big game.
