Think objectively for a moment. He's already the DC at the SEC and nations top program. But would leave for a shittier job that has to compete against said team every year guaranteed? With less talent to boot. Where as he could have been a HC elsewhere. Now if LSU offered the HC position I think that's a different tune.

DC at LSU Lol

I think it's more interesting that they contacted him than it is likely that he would actually take the job.

I wouldn't be upset if it happens.

I don't know anymore. It's hard for me to tell how much of the stats reflect Alabama playing good defense, and how much they reflect the other team just playing really bad on offense.

Also off topic but "pvilleguru" do you also live in Prattville? haha

I grew up there. I've had this name since 8th grade or so. Live in Montgomery now.

This. It seems "elite" quarterbacks (and even mediocre ones - Marshall) have a field day against us. 2011, who was the best QB we played? 2012? Yeah, we won that guy a Heisman. 2013? It's hard to remember, but I see your point when I sit here and think about it.

Kirby is one of the top recruiters in the nation. I would suspect he would get whatever talent he wanted at LSU.

He may be ready for a change of scenery and Les may be giving him full control over the D. As long as he is here, he will be viewed as a DC figurehead and Saban will get most of the credit for the D.

I don't really want KS going to LSU but, I would like to see some change here.

Not eager to get rid of him but wouldn't melt or be worried if he left either. New blood may actually help.

Unless he is unhappy or wants a new challenge I don't see it happening. He didn't leave for Georgia and that's his alma mater. If he does leave we will be fine.

Over reactionary people looking for throats to slash due to a handful of games where the defense did poorly. Let's just push the best player's coach and recruiter Bama has in Georgia off to another school because they didn't deliver a NC.

It's either Saban's defense or it's not. If Smart is just a puppet, any "new blood" would be a puppet too. Kinda makes it moot if you marginalize Smart's value, but claim someone different would help more...

Don't think u ever saw me say he was a "puppet". Just think several years can make things stale sometime. Like I said, I am not for firing it running him off but think we will be ok either way

I did't mean to affend, "new blood" has been used ad nauseam in these situations. It wasn't calling out your comment specifically.

I just see it as the grass isn't always greener situation. Bama can a LOT worse than Smart, and I have a hard time seeing them do a LOT better than Smart.

If he leaves, he leaves. I highly doubt it would be for a lateral (or downward, since it's LSU) move.

I'm confident we would make a good hire to replace him.
