as of today. All is not lost folks, we did ourselves a LOT of good with our OOC play. Plus, we really aren't a bad team. Sure it's frustating to watch a game like Tuesday, but Arkansas is/was ranked and is going to finish in the top handful of the league.

Win the games we're supposed to, lose the ones we're expected to, and just hold serve in the rest and we're not even thinking bubble, we're solidly in. Lot of basketball left.

A win Saturday will keep me optimistic. A loss will keep me in doubt. Starting 0-2 In conference with a trip @ Vandy next week makes that game a must win. And when was the last time we won in Nashville?

Any time UGA loses in any sport to any opponent people abandon them. It's what we do best!

A win is fantastic.

It wouldn't help us, but it wouldn't put us in doubt either. I mean, you don't go from being an 8th seed (that is SOLIDLY in the tourney, far removed from the bubble) to doubtful in the course of 1 week.

It's pretty much a given at this point that we'll lose that one. I don't care how good we are and how bad they are, we always crap the bed up there. Can't believe we lost up there with KCP when we were winning with like 4 seconds left and he dribbled the ball off his leg out of bounds and they scored to win at the end. But that's typical of how we play there.

Avoiding any ugly non-conference losses has set us up way better than last season. If we did what we did last year (12-6 in the SEC then 1-1 in conference tourney) we'd be a good seed (probably like a 6 or 7).

I think we are in the dance with a 10-8 conference record, but any worse than that and we would likely need at least one win the SEC tourney, if not more. The conference is better than last year, but the days of playing .500 ball in the SEC and making the dance are over (in the early 2000s this happened several times).

My only concern is that our early conference schedule is tough (@LSU Saturday then @ Vandy). We need one of those to avoid starting 0-3. 1-2 in conference with a home game coming up would be fine with me. Big game Saturday night at LSU. They just lost in OT at Mizzou last night.

It would be a pleasant surprise. I think Fox is probably overachieving with 3 star talent but the problem is I don't see him every being able to recruit higher level talent consistently.

True. What's frustrating is that he is in it for a lot of BIG time players. We just typically lose them. It's not like we aren't in contention though, there's been a handful of major, elite guys that have really looked hard at UGA and just went elsewhere.

Harrick was a meh recruiter and an elite, A+ coach.
Felton was a very good recruiter and a fairly lousy coach.
Fox is an above average coach and an average recruiter.

We can't seem to put it all together.

Yep, meanwhile Auburn with Bruce Pearl has already gotten three 4 star players; 2 have already signed LOI.

Name recognition and personality.

Kids in teh south know Bruce Pearl's name and saw him win at Tennessee. It's not hard for him to recruit, espeically with his personality.

When Fox came to UGA nobody had heard of him (despite his success out west) and he isn't really the most charismatic presence.

I'm sure most will disagree but I'd trade fox for pearl this afternoon without thinking twice.

UGA would never hire anyone like Pearl; he's all in/will do whatever it takes to win including: lying, cheating, misrepresentation, false accusations, you name it. LINK And of course Auburn has no problem with any of this.

You mean...post Harrick? Because UGA did hire someone like that and it's why our program was set back nearly a decade

What's so funny to me is that it was holier than thou Adams who vetoed dooley to get his old buddy harrick in here.

probably a bit high for now. im really worried about these next 3 games. we absolutely have to win 1 or 2 of them and there is a pretty good chance that we dont.

@lsu
@vandy
florida

that's tough as shite for us. if we win 2, we are basically in the tournament IMO. lose all 3, and it will be a tough climb back.

Florida is tough in name, and obviously billy D is an all timer, but they are struggling this year. They aren't all that.

LSU isn't all that either and we've actually played fairly decent there recnetly.

Until proven otherwise I'll assume @vandy is a loss.

WE can easily win 2 of those.

Florida is good and will continue to improve this year. Think it will basically be a pick em game at home like Arkansas was and LSU is tomorrow. Our opening 4 game schedule is brutal. I would be ecstatic if we get to 2-2. Always struggle in Nashville, LSU is likely a tourney team.

8th seems about right, might could get a 7th if we can get a little better.

I still dont know why yall think Mark Fox is an average recruiter. What dkes he have to sell a tradition of losing. Somwone will have to remind me, he is reaponsible for getting KCP wasnt he? Also, just because we arent getting the big name guys doesnt mean he is a bad recruiter. Fox is finding talent that isnt big name but can compete at a higher level than we've experienced since Harrick. Is the fact that we are missing on one-and don
