Yep.

Spreadin dat peace.

quote:

Boko Haram fighters burnt down almost the entire town on Wednesday, after over-running a military base on Saturday, Musa Alhaji Bukar said.

Bodies lay strewn on Baga's streets, amid fears that some 2,000 people had been killed in the raids, he added.

Are we sure that these people weren't staging a die in to protest Ferguson?

Puzzling response.

Nigeria is the most populous African country with the largest economy. Boko Haram is a Salafist terror group. Playing some sort of moral equivalency game on an online forum with this attack on a military base is odd.

Correct. This trend has been heading that direction for a decade or so now, and it isn't at all the conventional hutu / tutsi type conflict.

only getting offended by mass murders in africa because they stem from islamists is also odd. you don't get to pick and choose which events are more offensive than others based on who committed them. ala take a look at what's going down in southern sudan in the last month or so.

Serious response: why haven't we done more in Africa? Whether is be islamic extremism or tribal disputes that lead to genocide, it doesn't seem like we have intervened much and there is a small U.S. troop presence. It seems strange since we (as a country) are so concerned with the spread of terrorism and genocide, but very little has been done. Why?

Haha I'm sure you're being somewhat facetious, but I've oft wondered if that, other natural resources, or no real tactical type advantage were the reasons more hasn't been done.

It seems like the world as a whole doesn't really give a shite about Africa, and I'm not trying to act high and mighty, I certainly don't really care either. It's just weird that we are so quick to rush to other places but will watch hundreds of thousands be murdered and not intervene.

So we completely neglect a country for an event that killed less than 20 soldiers?

Edit: not trying to marginalize lives lost, just doesn't match "American resolve".
