This is from week 1...yes, I'm sure that the end of season depth chart is slightly different...but this is the one that I found.

From the 2-deep...starters indicated by S

Jameon Lewis S
Robert Johnson S
Blaine Clausell S
Ben Beckwith S
Dillon Day S
Archie Muniz
Malcolm Johnson S
Brandon Hill
Josh Robinson S
Nick Griffin
PJ Jones S
Kaleb Eulls S
Curtis Virges
Preston Smith S
Matt Wells S
Christian Holmes
Jamerson Love S
Jay Hughes S
Justin Cox S

I count 14 starters from the week 1 game. Feel free to correct any discrepancies. Not sure if you have anyone on your roster like CJ Johnson in that he was listed as a senior this year but still has another year to play. I couldn't find(i.e. looked for 5 minutes) your starting lineup for the Egg Bowl...so, once again, feel free to post who started over who towards the end of the season.

just got annoyed that every thread regarding next season eventually leads to someone posting that MSU losing a ton and then MSU fans saying they don't.

...yet no one has actually pointed to a depth chart.

Losing a lot of contributors, sure. Mullen always starts the older guys even though some behind them play more.

I'd say the following players had backups that played the same as or more than they did:

Robert Johnson S
Archie Muniz
Brandon Hill
Nick Griffin
PJ Jones S
Kaleb Eulls S
Curtis Virges
Christian Holmes
Jamerson Love S
Jay Hughes S
Justin Cox S

Unfortunately, this even happened to guys like Matt Wells on Defense. I mean frick, McKinney only played barely over half our snaps.

That's the argument you are running into. Not that we aren't losing anyone.

You know damn well you've already looked at the depth chart and seen that they only return 12 from their entire 2 deep. Offense and defense combined.

THey do lose a lot and that is why I think they will take the biggest hit in college football next season regardless of if their QB decides to stay. If their QB goes pro they may struggle to even get 7 wins.

actually, I haven't. I more only pay close attention to dumb shite they do off the field. Don't have enough time in my day to keep up with what they do on the field also.

Not really true.

Lose 1 RB. (Griffin hasn't been our 2 guy at all)
Lose 3 OL.
Return 7 of top 8 WR. (Regardless of who started in week 1)
Lose 1 Safety.
Lose one CB. (Return the best two in Redmond and Calhoun)
Lose 2 LB's. (This hurts)
Lose 3 DL.

We lose 12 total from our "2 deep" by my count. Not counting Justin Cox because he's no longer on the team.

ETA: Forgot Malcolm Johnson at TE, so 13.

Ok legit answer then, from the opening day depth chart we are loosing a lot. In actual min. played and production at each position it is not as bad as it seems. the biggest losses are on the OL IMHO but I am not sure how good they were or how much they were propped up by a running QB. Numbers wise the DL and WR are loosing a great deal but meh on most of the players performance. I mean of course the season P. Smith had will be missed but the others not so much. Same for the WR bunch, their replacements will be just as good if not better. The one problem I see is a loss of a great deal of experience at DB, and your list did not even include the dismissed safety. Although as bad as our secondary played at times this may be a good thing. Overall as much as we tend to substitute I do not think that it is as bad as the numbers would suggest at first glance.
