Nothing scares me quite like cancer.

Anyone else think about this too much?
For me, it's a combination of family history and seeing celebs/wealthy folk who can't even beat it. It just seems too inevitable and I struggle with the thought of being helpless and my family having to see me wither away.

We all die. I certainly want to live until I'm old, I want to have a full, exciting life with my wife and our nieces and nephews and friends, but I have come to terms with my mortality. I have two friends who were marathon runners, the epitome of health, both went into cardiac arrest and died before they turned 30. You never know what's going to get you; a premature heart attack, cancer, a drunk driver/car accident, the police...
No use in being scared, we're all going to die somehow. I'm worried about getting sick and being a burden on my loved ones while living in a state that won't allow me to end my life on my own terms.

That's worse actually. Maybe getting old is what scares me. Just illnesses associated with age.

Dying isn't what scares me. It's the withering away part. On e you're dead, you're dead. No sweat.

My sister goes to Stanford and works in a lab doing research during the summer...she said another research group thinks they found the cure to Alzheimer's. They are working on getting approval to do clinical trials on it

Agreed. Both my father and younger brother have battled through multiple relapses. It scares the shite out of me.
I've been trying to eat/drink way cleaner to try and be as preventative as possible.

I read about that on reddit the other day. And UM I do the same but it seems like everyday they tell us about something new that can cause cancer. Google red meat and cancer.
Sorry about your family members too..that's tough. Prayers they recover

And you're from the delta and your sister goes to Stanford?!

It's just a product of the world we live in. We've gotten to the point in the developed world that we can reasonably prevent most of the population from being eaten by animals, starving to death, freezing to death or dying from a communicable disease...Cancer is just the one thing left to get you, you live so long that your cells start fricking up and dividing out of control.
Sooner or later something has to kill you. I'm not afraid of it though there are certain forms I'd really rather not get like Brain Cancer.

Within the last year I buried my father in law, an uncle and an aunt. I expect to bury another aunt within the next six months. Cancer is a bitch.

What if I'm both A and B but I'm accidentally standing next to someone who isn't and the cop, like many cops, can't aim well?

A lot of people are turning to natural treatments and they are working.
My boyfriends grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer over a year ago. She's almost 80 and has been doing a natural treatment regimen. Her WBC count is almost back to normal and she's doing great.
If people start going that route, it could really change things.

Being from the delta doesn't make you stupid or poor. It makes a lot of people around do you poor/stupid.

My dad was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 1975.
He didn't die until 2014...of a stroke that had nothing to do with cancer.
It's not something you should dwell on.
Nobody that has ever lived has been immortal.

I wasn't implying that. Just saying that most people i know from rural areas tend to stick to those rural areas.

I'd rather go via cancer than Alzheimers or Dementia. I cannot imagine a worse fate than slowly losing your mind what everyone around you starts thinking of you like a pet, not a father.
I'd rather shite into a bag for 6 months (like my grandfather) than slowly forget who all my loved ones are.
