LSU will have a great defense regardless of who they hire

That defense has been consistently elite for nearly 15 years under several different coordinators because of the amount of talent LSU always has on D. The DC hire really does not matter that much as long as he is simply competent.

aTm hired a great DC, but they did not steal anything from LSU. LSU will be fine on defense.

Agree but they might not be elite. At least not year 1 while learning a new system.

That's nice of you to say, but the last guy didn't do as much with all that talent as he should have, so I'm confident they'll bring someone in who can utilize it better.

I'd trade the Pelini D's over Chavis D's any day.

The problem has been when we had elite defenses our offense has sucked. When we have had great offenses our defense was inconsistent at best (2013). Sure, we have "good" defenses just about every year, but we never seem to put together great defense with great offenses under miles.

You know... You're right...

2004... Last year of Muschamp D, gave up 256 yds a game
In comes Pellini
2005 266 yds Total D
2006 242
2007 288
2008 Co D Coordinators... 325
2009 in comes Chavis... 327
2010 307
2011 261.. was it Chavis brilliance or a D that had 7 players drafted in first three rounds??
2012 307
2013 talent drained to NFL.. 340 ...worse than the co d.c. experiment
2014 Talent pool level back on the rise...316

Thanks bama dude. You're right. Which goes to one point... New DC needs to be great recruiter... Enter Orgeron.

Chavis is going to aTm to try & make chicken salad out of chicken shite. He's going to have to earn every penny of his salary. Talent is what made those Chavis defenses so elite, he's not bringing that with him to atm; he left that for LSU's new DC.
