Our kick and punt return game was awful this year

Our kick and punt return game was quite terrible all year.
I don't recall busting a single return for big yardage, or even regularly getting a decent return.
The number of times we got tackled instantly or inside the 20 was very high. Both poor blocking and poor decision making by returners.
At least we stopped fumbling it like crazy after the Arkansas game.
It was definitely a major weakness of the team this year.

The thing I wonder about this is was our coverage unit and blocking just not as good, or was it all on CJ?
I would have liked to see Marlon out there. I know he's a freshman, but damn. Over half of his high school highlights include him as a return man.

CJ did have a few solid returns. The one against LSU comes to mind.
While I appreciate everything he brought to the team/program I'm not sad to see him go. Maybe the staff will put someone more dynamic back there instead of going the "safe" route.

I think it was coverage and blocking. He never really had those big holes you see on return TDs.

Far too often it looked like CJ was just looking for a place to fall. The blocking may not have been the best, but he didn't help them too much.

Seemed like a combination of both, but Jones definitely seemed hesitant after the fumble issues

Jones has never been fit to carry Arenas or Maze's jock.
That having been said, it wasn't Jones's fault he kept getting blown up at the 10 or 15 yardline Thursday night.

Fire Bobby Williams. Our ST and TEs have been underwhelming his entire tenure at UA.

My problem with Jones is his decision making. He took it out of the endzone several times this year when he should have just taken the touchback.

You're damn right. ArDarius Stewart and Bradley Sylve are my picks.

I completely agree there. Nothing he's been in charge of has been good, in fact it's often terrible.
