Can you wait til we get a new DC first?

We'll still be ahead of A&M. Nobody can fix that shite show in one season

What you fail to realize is there is a talent gap defensively between LSU and a&m...we have the players, just need to hire the right coach. You think you have the coach, but you surely don't have the players.

Will the LSU defensive players still be here?

That should answer your question.

He was good. He also had the benefit of an offense that played time of possession very well, even though we never got points.

Its very hard for any defense to do anything when the offense is 122nd in the country in TOP like A&M was.

We have the talent and TOP offense that will give us a top 30 defense. Obviously this depends on who we hire, but if its Clancy and Bebe for DL, we will have a top 15 defense IMO.

Yeah, Ole Sarge don't realize that he may have Chavis, but he doesn't have Chavis' players

You realize LSU fielded consistently badass defenses before Chavis, right?

what atm does not understand is that Chavis is in retirement mode. It will take him 2 years just to start to see improvements. Then, off to the Caribbean he goes!

3rd and Chavis! Cant wait to start that chant in November!

Nice shiny hook you got there, Sarge.

The worst defense statistically that LSU has had in the past 15 years was in 2008 when LSU was ranked in the 30s on defense. Miles responded by letting the whole defensive staff go and hiring Chavis. Before that one year, we had Bo Pelini, and before that, Nick Saban/Will Muschamp. You can go back into the past 50 years (save the Hallman years and Dinardo with Lou Tepper at the end) and find dominant defenses at LSU. It is what LSU does and that isn't changing.

75-80 without Chavis? Again, nice hook, but

Well first off, A&M doesn't have LSUs talent at DB

That's what Chavis's defense revolves around

I appreciate what Chavis did, but you're fooling yourself if you think its Kool-Aid time for the LSU fanbase because he's leaving.

You've made some reference to LSU fans "melting" about 10 times. Give me an example. I'd rather he had stayed, but in the end, don't let the door hit you on that giant rear end of yours.

No LSU fan will say he wasn't good, or that he was the best. We realize he was a quality DC...our issue, which we were warned by UT, was that he was weak on 3rd downs when a stop was integral.

As an LSU fan, I became leery of any lead less than 10 points going into the last few minutes of a game. That was when it seemed like or D had shite for brains, and made the opposing quarterback look like Peyton Manning. As Chavis is now your DC, you'll learn to dread the two minute drill by any opposing team.
