How can you be a fan of your school but also support the SEC?

All teams not in the state of Alabama of course.
Most people i talk to have it in their heads that what's good for the conference is good for the individual schools but show me which schools benefit form the SEC conference and how being a part of that conference makes it better for your school.

So you're advocating LSU return its SEC TV check.

Super. More for all of us.

It gives people whose team doesn't accomplish much an excuse/chance to be in an "elite" group

Money

Being better equals we get more in tv deals equals more money for all

Appearances. At a point 4 of the top 5 were SEC, if we were some middling shite conference that likely wouldn't have happened.

Credit by association.

SEC network (as much as I hate it)

How much money will the SEC and ESPN make?
The network is set to bring in the big bucks. If half of all households are subject to the in-conference rate, that's a little over $700 million a year in revenue. The remaining non-SEC customers should pitch in another $130 million or so. In terms of sheer carriage revenue, that would be near the size of ESPN2, and over three times as large as the Big Ten and Pac-12 networks, Fox Sports estimates.

Notre Dame is Notre Dame. They've been the lone wolf for forever and probably have more perceived name recognition, history, tradition, etc. than any other team in college football. Their situation is completely unique - always has been & probably always will be. ... There's no comparison between them & say, LSU.

Honestly, I wanted the other SEC schools to win their bowl games. We don't have any conference rivals, so I think it's good for current and future SOS arguments if the SEC wins their bowl games.

HOWEVER, when the SECw fricking crashed and burned this week, I did LOL. Now all we can do is point and laugh.

More bowl eligible schools = more money for everyone.

And up until last night, the SEC rode on the prestige of previous seasons in securing a playoff spot (and everyone moves up).

Also living in a partial ACC city and just up the road from B1G country, you learn to hate those frickers more than anything.
