Exactly..:I was watching last night thinking how they got 2 of the best backs in the country and a grest line....yet Kiffen kept trying to get special with his play calling.

I know a Big 10 team is used to facing power running teams but damn....I would've thought they'd pound it a little more.

Not really. Saban has won 4 NC's.....

Look, teams like Alabama and LSU are analogous to Kentucky in basketball now. They get top recruits but those ultra talented players often leave early for the NFL so you are left with young less experienced teams. Compare that to Oregon bringing back their Senior star Heisman winning QB, Mariota. Tebow did the same thing for Florida.

There's a fine balance between top recruiting and putting together a mature/experienced team. The entire SEC lost a lot of talent to the NFL over the last 5 seasons. This is part of the factor that accounts for how teams like Missouri can overachieve without top 10 recruiting rankings; their players mature and stay in their system longer.

UGA's problem is we are somewhere in between. We usually have top 10 recruiting but not top 5. And the top players we do get usually leave early plus we have uncommon attrition for various other reasons other than losing players to the NFL.

was being more facetious than anything. If CMR said that after a loss like that where we got outcoached & outplayed again the board would be up in arms...

No doubt. Alabama lost last night for one main reason: Sims threw 3 INT's. Sims is just not a top QB yet ironically he was probably the best QB in the SEC this season which speaks to the fact that the SEC was definitely down this season.

Alabama's defense is also not nearly as good as it has been in the past. They lost a lot of good players to the NFL and are playing Freshmen at a number of positions. Heck the commentators last night said Bama was playing a Freshmen LT for the first time since Saban has been there.

I fully expect both Alabama, LSU and Georgia to be better next season as their young players develop. Kiffin will most likely replace Sims with that pro-style QB, they got from FSU, Jacob Coker. As good as Alabama and LSU have been in recent years, both have lacked truly talented QB's while Georgia has lacked truly talented defenses. Put it all together and you have a championship team.

Bama's offense wasn't that great to start with. Their RB's are overrated and Sims is mediocre. Their Offense didn't cost them the game, because it was on the defense to win it from the start.

Alabama's defensive game plan was bad last night, IMO. They had OSU's qb rattled early, they should have blitzed him to death in his 2nd start in a high pressure situation. Instead they let him get comfortable and played soft coverage across the middle. He got in a groove and that was the game. They lost because of poor coaching.

Even the best coaches can't win them all. That's what drives me nuts about the anti-Richt crowd. Even getting Saban to come in won't magically get us a NC.

At least it'd magically get us an appearance
