Mississippi State may be the worst SEC basketball team of all time

We are that bad. Maybe its the sacrifice we had to make to the sports gods to have a 10-win Orange Bowl season in football, but they are awful.
They lost by 20 to McNeese State in front of 27 fans tonight. They have now lost 6 of their last 7 to fall to 6-6. They play Florida State Saturdayto close out the non-conference slate. I don't see a way they do not end 6-26 on the season. As bad as the SEC is, there isn't a win on the schedule for MSU.
We committed suicide when we fired a coach after a 20-win season in which we were ranked in the top 15 before a collapse. No decent coach will take the job. 10 years ago this season, MSU went 26-2 in the regular season, won the SEC outright and was a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The current athletic director at Mississippi State, Scott Stricklin, has ridden Greg Byrne's (former AD, now at Arizona) coattails long enough. This is his one coaching hire and it has been terrible. Rick Ray could be a great guy, but I am a big college basketball fan and had to google Rick Ray when we hired him.
Time for Ray to be the basketball version of Croom. The program is cleaned up. Time to get a real coach.

Taxman, I'm not a Stans man. Players fighting in the stands at Hawaii tournaments isn't my cup of tea, but Rick Ray is over his head as an SEC head coach, its very evident.
I'm not sure who we could get, but Ray is not the man for the job.
One of our greatest players ever is doing a fine job at Middle Tennessee. Hell, lets hire Kenny Payne and get Kentucky leftovers. We'd be #2 in the SEC immediately.
